About the adventure
This game, so far, has a very loose idea for setting and story. A land where the many fantasy tribes, such as humans, elves, beastfolk, and more, struggle against the rule of unfair rulers. This is because the world is meant to be built upon by the players. You decide the shape of the world, and your backstory and character progression serve as the lead direction for the game's story. This is a high fantasy game for players who like to connect to characters and NPCs, and make an actual impact on their lives. It's a game for people who like to chat about your characters or rp between sessions. It's for heroes whos' stories resonate beyond the gaming table. This game uses the Savage Worlds system. It is not hard to learn, and beginners are more than welcome. If you're tired of the same few DnD classes and want to bring your character to life in a whole new way, this game is for you. The Savage World system lets you express your characters with identifiable, and even custom, traits and abilities instead of a rigidly defined character class. The process of character creation is as simple as noting your character's personality and abilities, and translating that to perks and powers in the game world. We hope you join us for this high fantasy adventure!

About me
I've been DMing for over ten years. I'vebeen told that the highlights of my games are my rounded NPCs and ability to balance Rule of Cool, humor, and more serious themes to make stories that challenge your characters', well, character, instead of just your hit points.

Creating your character
We'll be starting from the beginning, with Novice characters. For those who are here at the start of the game, we will be building the setting together. For anyone joining later, we will do our best to accommodate your concepts into the world. If you need help, just ask! All you really need at the start is to have an idea of what kind of world setting you would like, a High Fantasy themed character, and your own creative spark. I do have some restrictions. 1. Do not bring a character who is reluctant to adventure. I will be blunt- characters who do not want to be active participants in the story, or in the party, are going to have a hard time. 2. Every PC must be an adult. 3. Your backstory must fit within one page of text. We may expand the setting and story with ideas you bring forth, but your character themselves are starting at base level, and their backstory should reflect that.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
This game will use voice chat over Discord. Please ensure that you have appropriate audio equipment. You will need a Foundry account to access the game.
What Fish brings to the table
Here is what you can expect from my GMing style A. RP heavy, Rule or Cool games. I like to emphasize characters, not stat blocks. B. Engaging NPCs. I take pride in crafting NPC characters that players can latch on to and have fun interacting with! C. Meaning in Silliness. I like to run worlda that, though they may house serious stories, are more on the fanciful side of things. You won't find a grimdark tale here. Instead, imagine a vibe more like ATLA or Slayers. D. Emotional Themes. I like to write stories around a central theme.
Homebrew rules
A. I understand that I am running a heavy RP game. That means that it becomes easy to get emotionally attached to your characters. Because of this *player may choose to forgo character death, and instead have their characters go unconscious.* This choice may come with complications to your character's story. B. Custom character options and homebrew are allowed! However, *every instance of homebrew must be approved by all the players at the table.* The GM has the right to modify abilities out-of-game with the player if need be. C. Encourage Role-play and not Roll-play. If our goal is to tell as story, the context and flow of the narrative takes center stage. This means that dice rolls are reserved for instances that have a chance at failure, such as combat or difficult feats. To encourage this style of play, I as that you understand that *unprompted rolls or checks may be ignored.* D. You don't need to roleplay everything your character does if you don't want to. It is okay to merely describe your intent for their actions. I specify because I have been at tables where the GM insists on hounding you for every word you say- and I am not like that, nor do I want to be.

How Fish creates a safe table
Session Zero will establish our hard limits and policies for things like intra PC combat and character death. These will be written down in our discord server Virtual X cards will be used. As a DM, I am always looking out for respect for player agency, and am not afraid to undo problematic actions done in-game. Each session ends with "thumbs up or thumbs down" discussions, giving you the chance to make issues known. Knowing that I tend to run emotional scenes, I understand that character bleed is real. Taking breaks or addressing these issues out of game is important to me.
