About the adventure
The Sunless Citadel, The Forge of Fury, The Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan, White Plume Mountain, Dead in Thay, Against the Giants and Tomb of Horrors. Seven classic D&D adventures meant for only the most stalwart of heroes. Amid the bustle of Waterdeep, within the Castle Ward where barristers, nobles, and emissaries battle with word and contract, stands an inn not quite like any other. The Yawning Portal hosts adventures from all across Faerûn as they come together to swap stories by the hearth as they drink wine and ale served by the legendary Durnan. You and your companions have come to the Yawning Portal seeking adventure. Grabbing a pint, you join the drunken masses to hear their stories and learn their secrets. A wanderer from the distant Shou Empire speaks of strange, leering devil faces carved in dungeon walls that can devour an explorer in an instant, leaving behind not a single trace of the poor soul’s passing. A bald, stern man tells of a wizard who claimed three powerful weapons, spirited them away to a slumbering volcano and dared adventurers to enter his lair and recover them. A one-eyed dwarf spins tales of a castle that fell into the earth, and whose ruins stand above a subterranean grove dominated by a tree that spawns evil. You've heard enough. It is time to test your mettle, your wits and your courage. It is time to become a hero of legend.

About me
I have been playing Dungeons and Dragons since 2nd edition, so I am extremely familiar with this system and have been for a long time. Over the last 5 years I have been running games just for friends, and it been such a great time that I decided to run D&D for Everyone! No matter who you are, what you prescribe to, or who you identify as, if you like fantasy and D&D, you are welcome!! I bring a lot to my D&D campaigns. My homebrew campaign (set in Forgotten Realms) has a bit of everything: roleplay, dungeon crawls, puzzles, humor, tragedy, interesting NPCs and heart. I create side stories based on PC's backstories and add them to the world so everyone gets their time to shine! Plus I make my own maps!! I also have other campaigns available: Curse of Strahd, Tales From the Yawning Portal and Princes of the Apocalypse! But if you have a 5e (or 5e compatible) campaign or one-shot in mind, let me know and I can run it for you!! I run my games on D&D Beyond, I use D&D Beyond Maps for location and use Discord to communicate, so there are no extra fees. I also use Syrinscape for music and ambiance. I offer a free session zero to discuss what players are looking for, set ground rules and help with character creation. So whether you're an old hand at the game, or if you're a rookie who just set out on their first adventure, I have something for you. Let's roll some dice!!!

Creating your character
Character creation will begin in session 0. Alterations are allowed until the first session begins. Players are welcome to refer to the Players Handbook, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, and Xanthar's Guide to Everything. Players should NOT read/use Tales from the Yawning Portal.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Free Discord and D&D Beyond accounts will be necessary. If a potential player does not have a webcam or a way to be seen on Discord, that's fine, but a mic is a must. Character creation will be done during a free session 0 so players and I can all agree and make sure the party is balanced. Characters can be altered up until the first session. House rules will be discussed and decided on during session 0.
What DM Rob V brings to the table
D&D Beyond, D&D Beyond Maps & Discord server. Links will be provided when you receive the booking email. I try to make my sessions as entertaining as possible. I do voices (I'm no Matt Mercer, but I try). I do a mixture of RAW, RAI and Rule of Cool. But most important, I try to bring the FUN!!
Homebrew rules
Critical hits. No one wants to roll low damage when they roll a nat 20. I have three options for you, keep in mind enemies will abide by these rules as well: 1. Automatically double damage dice (no roll) and add the modifier or 2. Full damage on one die and roll the 2nd, then add the modifier, or RAW. Nat 20 and nat 1 count for skills checks as well. Roleplaying is greatly encouraged. You could simply let the dice do the talking, but I will lower the DC if you roleplay what you are doing (especially for Persuasion, Deception, Intimidation checks, etc.). The better the RP, the better the reward. All this is discussed and decided upon as a group during Session 0.
