About the adventure

Dragon’s Rest should be a place of peace. A quiet monastery on a remote island where weary travelers can recover beneath the shadow of ancient dragon statues. But Stormwreck Isle has a long memory, and something beneath its rocky shores is beginning to stir. Dragons of Stormwreck Isle is a beginner-friendly Dungeons & Dragons adventure filled with shipwrecks, strange creatures, ancient rivalries, exploration, roleplay, and plenty of chances to be heroic. You’ll begin at 1st level and grow to 4th level as your party explores the island, meets its unusual inhabitants, and uncovers why the conflict between dragons still seems to echo across Stormwreck Isle. This game is especially welcoming to new or newer D&D players. You do not need to know all the rules, memorize your character sheet, or have played D&D before. I’m happy to teach as we go and explain the rules when they become relevant. Experienced players are absolutely welcome too, especially if you enjoy playing alongside people who may be discovering the game for the first time. It’s also a great introduction to Play-by-Post D&D. If you’ve been curious about PbP but haven’t tried it before, this adventure gives you a chance to learn the format in a shorter, focused story without committing to a long-running campaign. You’ll have time to think through your character’s actions, write out roleplay, and learn the game at your own pace. My games focus on giving players room to make choices, interact with the world, develop their characters, and occasionally solve problems in ways I never expected. Expect a mix of roleplay, exploration, mystery, and tactical combat, with plenty of opportunities for humor and memorable character moments along the way. If you’ve been wanting to try D&D or Play-by-Post gaming but weren’t sure where to start, this adventure was made for you.

About me

I love playing D&D, and running games has become the part of the hobby I love most. For over a year now I have specialized in play by post, running multiple 5e and 5.5e campaigns on Discord where the story unfolds in written narrative rather than at a table. That format has sharpened how I write scenes, voice NPCs, and give every player room to shine, and it means I can run rich, immersive games for people whose schedules never quite line up for a live session. What keeps me in the GM chair is watching a party get creative. The best moments at my games are the ones I never planned: the improvised solution that cracks a problem wide open, the noble sacrifice that lands harder because the players earned it, the long odds a group overcomes through nerve and teamwork. I build worlds and villains that push back, then I get out of the way and let the table surprise me. I run for adults, for new players, and for my own kids, and I tailor the experience to whoever is at the table. If you want a game where your choices matter and your character gets to be the hero of the story, I would love to have you.

Character creation

Creating your character

We’ll be using 5.5e rules for character creation, with expanded 5e species options available as well. For stats, you can use Standard Array, Point Buy, or roll for them. If you choose to roll, rolls will be made in Discord using Avrae with 4d6, dropping the lowest die. Characters will begin at level 1. No evil characters, mainly to help keep the party dynamic cooperative and moving in the same direction. This is Play-by-Post, so you can play at your own pace, but please try to post regularly enough to keep the adventure moving.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a free D&D Beyond account for character building and management, as well as a free Discord account to join the text-based game server. We’ll use Avrae in Discord for dice rolling and Tupper to make character dialogue and roleplay feel more immersive.

What Jacob Lee brings to the table

This game is built to fit D&D into real life, not compete with it. I’ll keep the world moving with regular posts, detailed descriptions, and plenty for your character to react to, explore, and engage with. The goal is to give everyone a little bit of D&D throughout the week at a pace that feels manageable. Players should aim to check in and post once or twice a day when possible so scenes keep moving and no one gets left waiting too long. You won’t need to be online at the same time as everyone else. Jump in when you can, add to the story, and help keep the adventure moving forward together.

Safety

How Jacob Lee creates a safe table

During the preparation stage, while we’re building characters, working on backstories, and getting everyone settled into Discord, I’ll provide a clearer outline of any potentially sensitive themes or content that may come up during the adventure. You’ll also have the opportunity to privately share any lines, veils, or boundaries you’d like respected. The goal is to make sure everyone feels comfortable and knows what to expect before we begin. Those conversations don’t have to stop at Session 0 either. If something comes up during the game that needs to be addressed or adjusted, you can always reach out privately and we can handle it as needed.
