About the adventure
Ambition, Family, Honor, and Duty. "What has happened to our family? I lament what we have become. The halls of Raventree Estate once echoed with love and Joy. Now... there is only suffering. I had within my grasp everything I needed to make things right. Some say time heals all wounds... but betrayal leaves wounds that will never knit. Is this the legacy I worked so hard to secure? Raventree in ruin. Trapped between life and death. Lost amidst shadow and chaos. A House Divided... If they want my manor so badly then they will have it. Twisted, perverse, and isolated. In all the ways that they are..." "A House Divided" is a tale of gothic horror and familial drama. The adventure features immersive exploration and tactically challenging combat, but its primary gameplay emphasis is social interaction with a rich cast of nuanced characters. What choices will the party make within the halls of Raventree Estate? What allegiances will they forge and what betrayals will they commit? Will the heroes restore the manor to its former glory, release it from its torment, or seize its power for their own?

About me
I first learned about TTRPGs some time after D&D 3.5e had come out, so I had a lot of catching up to do at the time. However, as soon as I was exposed to the possibilities, the dam was broken and I was hooked. I've been in and out of groups since then, but when the pandemic began, I had nothing but extra time to play tabletop games. I started homebrewing my own content, running my own games, and making my own maps. I'm not satisfied with playing tropes or going with what's easiest. As a fantasy fiction writer, I want to tell stories that are engaging, breathtaking, and continue to surprise you at every turn. I like to keep things cohesive, but always allow my players to make their own choices, and face the consequences that may or may not follow. The story we tell together should feel like the result of the choices you make together. That's the game I want to create for you. I'm pretty flexible when it comes to the style and length of the adventure you'd like to play. From intense one-shots to elaborate campaigns spanning 2 years. I can run official modules, or invite your group to the setting of my world, Inaelia.

Creating your character
For this adventure, you will be starting at level 5. It is expected that you should be around level 9 by the end, but if you complete enough of the side quests, you could likely reach level 10. You are free to use any character options from official sourcebooks(excluding those from 3rd-party settings like Ravnica, Eberron, and Wildemount) and will need to use point buy for stats. We will also forego racial bonuses in favor of a flat 3-point bonus to distribute how you choose, with no single stat receiving no more than two points from this bonus (to replace the usual "+2, +1"). If you'd like, you can create a character using D&D Beyond, as I have a module to import it directly into the Foundry VTT. Otherwise, you can create your character directly through Foundry, and I'll be available to assist, should you need it. Once you have a portrait for your character, be sure to use Token Stamp to generate a token to use (https://rolladvantage.com/tokenstamp/) As for items, you can choose either starting equipment, or starting wealth. Items you purchase with starting wealth should adhere to the prices listed in the Players Handbook. Additionally, this module has implied that there may be other roleplay opportunities for characters with proficiency in Arcana. This is optional, and not required in order to complete the adventure.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players are required to have a good microphone as much of our communication will be through discord. A webcam is not required, but can be used at your discretion and comfort. A good internet connection is recommended as well. As for additional programs, players will need an account for Discord as well as the Forge server(https://forge-vtt.com/), both of which are completely free to sign up and use.

Safety
How RollPlayer1 creates a safe table
Due to the nature of this adventure, there are many elements that some players may find disturbing, but these topics are not overly gratuitous either. Players will also have access to an X-card during gameplay, should you like to non-verbally ask for a scene to stop. The X-card can be used anonymously, should you desire to do so. For your safety, I will also be readily available, during and outside the scheduled play time, to discuss if there is any content that may be triggering.
