About the adventure

Beneath the Devil's Moon An Original Dragonlance Adventure When the black moon fractured, something long forgotten returned to Solamnia. In the wake of an extraordinary celestial upheaval, a region lost to history has become accessible once more. Ancient roads lead into unfamiliar lands, forgotten fortresses stand beyond the borders of known maps, and strange ruins hint at a history that predates even the Cataclysm. Perhaps most intriguing of all, the newly discovered territory contains resources of extraordinary potential, drawing the attention of the Knights of Solamnia, ambitious merchants, scholars, and those seeking fortunes of their own. But the deeper expeditions venture, the stranger their discoveries become. Architecture belonging to civilizations separated by centuries stands impossibly intertwined. Historical records offer more questions than answers, and whispers begin to spread that this land's disappearance may not have been entirely accidental. Why was this place forgotten? What secrets remain buried within it? And who else might be seeking what lies beneath? Your adventure begins as explorers, opportunists, or heroes drawn toward this newly unveiled frontier. Forge alliances, uncover lost history, navigate competing interests, and confront the dangers of a land the world was never meant to forget. The path ahead is yours to shape. The discoveries you make, the relationships you forge, and the decisions you leave behind will determine far more than your own fortunes. The black moon watches. The forgotten beckons. What will you discover Beneath the Devil's Moon? What to Expect Exploration & Discovery: Venture into an unfamiliar region of Solamnia filled with ancient ruins, forgotten history, strange locations, and secrets waiting to be uncovered. Character-Driven Storytelling: Your character's background, ambitions, and choices will have opportunities to influence the evolving narrative. Mystery & Intrigue: Encounter competing factions, uncover conflicting accounts of the past, and piece together the truth behind the region's reappearance. Meaningful Choices: Your decisions matter. Not every conflict has a straightforward answer, and the consequences of your actions may extend far beyond the party. A Mix of Roleplay and Combat: Expect opportunities for character interaction, investigation, exploration, and challenging encounters. A Note About the Table We'll begin with Session Zero, where we can discuss campaign expectations, establish character connections, and, most importantly, get to know one another. D&D is a collaborative experience, and creating a comfortable, welcoming group is something I consider essential to an enjoyable long-term campaign.

About me

Heyo, My name is James and I've been DMing for close to four years and I was a player for about 4ish years before that I think. Being a player taught me about quite a few of the pitfalls that a person can fall into if communication is not done between the DM and the player and also taught me the necessity for ensuring the game feels fun and not like someone is out to get you. After I began DMing I found that I could employ the things I wanted my character to have in the game I had played and had a great time doing it. It has been awesome and incredibly fun to see characters evolve and grow in ways they likely never expected. My mind is often thinking about new ideas for the campaign. I will find myself working out or listening to a song and a scene will begin to unfold in my mind. I imagine how an npc would react, what would happen to the world, what the players might or might not do, and that fuels my imagination further until I find some stuff that I just have to do and see how players interact and change it. It's really, REALLY fun.

Character creation

Creating your character

Rolling 4d6 and dropping the lowest roll (with rerolls.) will be what is used for getting stats. Starting level is level 1 and the characters will be created using DnDBeyond. Have an idea of what character you want to play and race etc if you can, but the rolling will be done during session 0. If the dice are not rolling well then modifications will be made to stats. I don't want anyone to feel underpowered, if anything I want you to feel strong rather than weak.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Have discord, roll20, and Dndbeyond accounts and install the extension "beyond20" on your browser if it's not already installed.

What James brings to the table

I will be doing voices for every npc (if i didn't do that things would get confusing real quick.) and will provide background music. The rule of cool is much more prevalent in how I do things more than rules as written, but there is of course some variance so things don't get too crazy.

Homebrew rules

Drinking a potion is a bonus action, if a person goes down consecutively in a short time frame then the death saves will grow more difficult.

Safety

How James creates a safe table

I will be holding a session 0 which will be free of charge. During that session, I will check in with players to ensure everyone is on the same page and comfortable with things. I will also be sending out a lines and veils document in case there are there things individuals are sensitive to. In addition, I will regularly check in with people to see how they are feeling about the campaign. If there are problems with the content or anything else with the campaign I want to know. This experience should be fun and engaging, not uncomfortable or aggravating.
