About the adventure

Set in my homebrew setting of Aetherius, the party will play through a short adventure beginning in a large farming community that would normally far more warm and friendly, but trouble is afoot. An ancient temple lies beneath the town, stirring concern when paladins arrive to 'see to the matter' personally. Since then there's been nothing but trouble across the town and beyond into the countryside, with the Oddmarsh being but the beginning of it all. Now the mayor has implored the paladins to seek aid, and they have invited you by name to aid them in the endeavor. This game is intended to be up to three sessions, with the potential of a larger campaign should members of the party prove interested. My table is open to players of all sorts--the new and the veteran, the active and returning, the roleplayer and the tactician. I do my best to style my DMing to tell a vivid story according to the wants and interests of the players and myself. In essence, if you're respectful, looking to tell a quality story, and enjoy or wish to explore collaborative storytelling, you might want to sign up!

About me

I grew up with the 2000 D&D movie and was introduced to the hobby of tabletop gaming by my wonderful uncle with D&D 4th edition. Admittedly I was young, so it didn’t quite stick, but I later play-tested fifth edition at San Diego Comic Con 2010 when it was still D&D Next, and I got a further taste for playing. Fast forward a little to high school when I found my first full time group and I was hooked and have been playing ever since. I have long dabbled and researched in being a dungeon master, though once I got my foot hold several years ago, I was rabid and couldn’t be held back. Now I do it for a living!

Character creation

Creating your character

Initial character creation will occur during session zero along with other aspects of preparation, with each player character starting at level 3. Session zero character creation will namely focus on deciding on a species, class, and overall concept. The stats and skills may be worked on following session zero but should be ready prior to the first play session.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

All that's need are two accounts: Discord and D&D Beyond. No payments are required to sign up and use either for this game. We will be using the D&D Beyond VTT and talk over a voice channel in Discord, with cameras being a potential option.

What Deadpoet brings to the table

Over the years since the start of the pandemic, I've had a lot of practice at hosting online games. Between voice work and a (opt-in) curation of music, I offer a story heavy game that molds itself to the players between roleplay, combat, exploration, and more.

Safety

How Deadpoet creates a safe table

Players will receive a lines and veils document to be gone over and filled out during session zero. Instead of X, N, O cards I prefer a Red, Yellow, Green system. I also like to follow up sessions with an after game discussion of stars and wishes.
