About the adventure

Welcome to Tumbledunn! This quaint and autumnal village resides among sprawling orchards that are peppered with the ruins of an ancient kingdom. Of course you can't really see any of that because it's been raining hard for three days straight. Merchants have disappeared off the roads and a flooded creek has unearthed something old, and very powerful. If you like cozy villages, ancient ruins, and uncovering mysteries while fighting the undead this is the game for you! Hi! I am Josh, I am a professional GM and Brewer from Portland OR. I have been GMing for about 8 years now. It has become the perfect outlet for this English Major/Theatre Kid. I love creating spaces that my players can really explore with deep lore and fun combat. I also love to teach people how to play DnD so if you are new to the game, have no fear! My play style trend's towards Rule of Cool. (If it's cool, I'll probably let you do it).

About me

My name is Josh McKinley I am a long time GM with a primary focus in dungeons and dragons. I love teaching new players the magic of DnD! I'm a lore fanatic who loves deep mysteries and settings with lots of history to explore. I'm a big proponent of the "Rule of Cool" and always try and make sure my players all have fun, meaningful interaction with the story and world they are in.

Character creation

Creating your character

I would love it if you could come to session 0 with at least an idea of what character you would like to play. We can build them during session 0. I am happy to assist with building character sheets if needed. We will be starting this adventure at level 3. I am pretty loose with what source books you would like to use, my only ask is if there is something crazy you want to build, let's talk it through.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

This game will be hosted on Discord, once you are signed up for the campaign I will send out a discord link! We will mostly be playing in the "Theatre of the Mind" but for some combat encounters that require more visual aid, we will be using DnD Beyond Maps.

What Josh McKinley brings to the table

In my games you can expect thematic music, character voices, and many chances to role-play. You can always expect deep lore tucked away in the corners and fun combat with chances for daring heroics. I am a Rule of Cool GM first and foremost. I love nothing more than setting up a rich and interesting world and seeing where my players go in it. I love to crack jokes and I'm not afraid to make a serious situation silly.

Homebrew rules

I am always willing to make a deal. If you want to do something that may not technically be possible, you can always try and make a deal with me.

Safety

How Josh McKinley creates a safe table

I always want to create a safe and comfortable environment in which to play my games. In session 0 we will go over some of the themes that will be dealt with in this adventure. We will also be using X, N, & O cards during the sessions as a way to make sure everyone at the table is feeling comfortable as the game progresses.
