About the adventure

This campaign will cover the WOTC starter adventure The Dragon of Icespire Peak, updated for the 2024 rules. Suitable for beginners to D&D and Tabletop RPGs. If you're just stepping foot into the world of roleplaying games, or would like to try out your first campaign, you're more than welcome to join! Set in the high fantasy setting of the Forgotten Realms, this adventure sees you arrive in a town beset by a young dragon. Together you'll face quests to help the town deal with the consequences of the dragons' appearance and, eventually, prepare to hunt it down. This adventure will focus on getting started with roleplaying, finding creative solutions to problems, combat, and working together as a group to tell an interesting story.

About me

Based in Chester, UK, I'm a lifelong lover of fantasy and sci-fi and have enjoyed world building and roleplaying games for years, starting with Pathfinder 1e when I was a teenager. I originally fell into being a GM when my group of friends needed one to run a session and have enjoyed it ever since! I love seeing the creativity that people bring to the table and watching players having fun and enjoying themselves.

Character creation

Creating your character

You can make your own Level 1 character at dndbeyond.com for free. When it directs you to choosing your stats, please use the option of "Standard Array" to ensure the combat balance is fair.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

1. Have a working device with webcam and microphone 2. Create a Level 1 Character in D&D Beyond 3. Upload that Character to the D&D Beyond link that I'll send over to you 4. Have a Discord account to be invited to the game server

What Stephen brings to the table

I'll be bringing Maps and Tokens via D&D Beyond for use in the session. If you need any help with creating a character, please let me know and I'll do what I can to assist. Video and voice will be through Discord, which will also be available for chat and questions outside of game. I fully believe in embracing the Rule of Cool, as creativity should be encouraged and the main aim is to have fun and enjoy the game we're playing! I'm no professional voice actor, but will do voice for the main NPCs in the campaign.

Safety

How Stephen creates a safe table

1. We'll have a comfort break at the halfway point of the session. 2. I will send over a copy of an RPG Consent Checklist prior to the first session. 3. Any X,N, & O's will be messaged to the DM during the session. The blood and death content warnings are for the possibility of character combat and the fighting of creatures. 4. At the end of each session we'll recap to make sure that everyone is okay with the content in the session, though if anyone is more comfortable speaking separately I'm happy to arrange time to speak directly with that person.
