About the adventure

Before the Colonial Marines answered the distress call—before Ripley returned to LV-426—Hadley’s Hope fell silent. Now you will experience the colony’s final nightmare and discover what happened when Weyland-Yutani ignored the warning. There are no heavily armed soldiers here—only five colonists returning from a routine survey. Your Daihotai Tractor is dead, the storm is closing in and nobody is answering the radio. Inside Hadley’s Hope, lights flicker over empty corridors. Acid has scarred the floors. Motion trackers detect movement inside the air ducts. Somewhere in the darkness, the perfect organism is hunting. Hope’s Last Day is a cinematic survival-horror one-shot for the ALIEN RPG Evolved Edition. Explore the doomed colony from Aliens, follow secret personal agendas and search for a way off LV-426. Facehuggers wait behind glass, Xenomorphs stalk the shadows and Weyland-Yutani still considers its research more valuable than your life. You cannot defeat what is coming. You can only decide who to trust, who to save and what you are willing to do to survive. No previous experience with ALIEN or roleplaying games is required. Five pregenerated characters are provided, and the rules will be taught during play. Expect atmospheric music, visual handouts, mounting panic, lethal encounters and the merciless tension of the films. In Hadley’s Hope, nobody is coming to rescue you—and not everyone will live to see the final credits.

About me

WELL MET. Let me introduce myself, I am DM Grendel. Irish born, dyslexic, oral storyteller and lover of role playing games. They remind me of sitting round a fire with a group of friends creating new storys. I am not an actor or voice actor and don’t expect my players to be either. I am more interested in the adventures we creat together. I have been DMing since the mid 80s, forever GM on D&D, Star Trek, Star Wars, Marvel Superheroes and Vampire Masquerade among others. I am a world traveler, this has given me great insight on real world exploration, adventuring, different cultures and languages. Another string to my bow is I am a practitioner of martial arts both hand to hand and weapons giving me interesting perspectives in combat. I am trained in counselling skills and hold several qualifications in “safe guarding” for working with vulnerable people and groups. I volunteer with the blind and run games for both sighted and visually impaired players. My games are both tolerant and inclusive.

Character creation

Creating your character

Grendle will provide pre-made character sheets for you to choose from after you sign up or at the start of the game.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Before the game: Create free accounts for Discord and Roll20. Join the game using the private links provided after booking. Use a laptop or desktop computer—Roll20 is not recommended on a phone. Install the Discord app if possible and check that your microphone and headset are working. Use a recognisable display name on both platforms. Join the Discord voice channel and Roll20 game approximately 10 minutes early. Five pregenerated colonists are provided, so you do not need to create a character. No previous experience with the ALIEN RPG, the films or roleplaying games is required—the rules, characters and safety tools will be introduced before play. Just bring your imagination, a willingness to work with the other survivors and nerves strong enough to enter Hadley’s Hope.

What Grendle brings to the table

I will provide everything needed to experience the final nightmare of Hadley’s Hope: Five pregenerated colonists with personal agendas, buddies and rivals. Detailed Roll20 maps, character sheets and visual handouts. Atmospheric music, environmental sound and carefully paced descriptions. Distinctive NPC voices and character-driven roleplaying. A beginner-friendly introduction to the ALIEN RPG Evolved Edition. Clear rules guidance throughout the session—no studying required beforehand. Safety tools and a respectful table where everyone can enjoy the horror. My GM style is cinematic, atmospheric and player-focused. I build tension gradually, giving you time to investigate the colony, follow suspicious signals and make meaningful decisions before everything descends into panic. Every character will receive opportunities to use their skills, pursue their secret agenda and influence who—if anyone—escapes LV-426. Combat in ALIEN is fast, frightening and extremely dangerous. Xenomorphs are not bags of hit points waiting to be defeated; they are intelligent predators that stalk, isolate and overwhelm their prey. Clever plans, teamwork and knowing when to run will often matter more than firepower. I follow the rules closely enough to keep the danger fair and consistent, while embracing cinematic ideas that suit the desperate survival-horror tone. Character death is not just possible but likely. If your colonist dies early, I will work to return you to the action using an available survivor or replacement character. My aim is to create the tension, body horror and mounting panic of the ALIEN films while ensuring that every player remains involved and has a memorable part in Hadley’s Hope’s final story.

Safety

How Grendle creates a safe table

I am trained in counselling skills and hold several safeguarding qualifications for working with vulnerable people and groups. I use that training to maintain a professional and respectful table. Before the session, we will have a clear safety briefing covering the adventure’s content and any player triggers. Players should contact me privately before the game if there is specific material they cannot encounter, allowing me to keep it out of the adventure without interrupting play. This is a graphic survival-horror game inspired by the ALIEN films. It contains intense violence, character death, claustrophobia, body horror, parasitic infection, forced implantation and creatures attacking human hosts. Fear, tension and discomfort are intentional parts of the experience. Players who do not enjoy these themes should not join this particular game. All players are expected to treat one another respectfully. Hostility between characters may be part of their secret agendas, but hostility between players will not be accepted. Shared or sensitive character interactions require the consent of everyone involved. The session will finish with a short decompression and debrief, giving players an opportunity to step out of character, discuss the adventure and bring the night’s horror to a comfortable close.
