About the adventure

I've spent a long time playing and running TTRPGs and in that time I've realized that a lot of people don't feel like they know what they're supposed to be doing next, and that's something that can only be achieved with time. So come sit down with me, lets imagine your character in new and interesting situations, let's create new facets and train your ability to figure the world out around you! This is a group-involved seminar in which we sit down together to get a better feel for roleplaying, decision-making, and

About me

With over 15 years experience as a Gamemaster, I love bringing to life the story of the party and their antics. I enjoy telling stories with the players' involvement, using their character ideas to influence arcs of the overall campaign. Most of my campaigns involve 5-9 session arcs that take the party through a leg of their journey and culminating in a boss adventure including the various themes from the last several sessions. Challenges may come in the form of puzzles, skill checks, social interactions, or tactical roleplay and combat.

Character creation

Creating your character

This is a character and system agnostic approach to how to practice being a player and interacting at the table. It's built around the idea of discussing and workshopping ideas and tools to be an active and interested participant in an event or game. We'll cover a number of ideas that span the gamut of being a "good" or "better" player (I'll cover why those are in quotes later), but always with a focus on how you can feel more confident in yourself and your ability to create and interact. This is class, and we may have guided discussion about specific topics throughout the weeks we meet. If you have any questions or concerns about the games you're playing in, the process of being a player, and the real work that goes into building a character inside your own imagination.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players should come with a working headset and microphone, a way to take notes, and an open mind about themselves and their playstyle. I want to emphasize that this is a seminar and experience built around self-improvement. We're going to take short but meaningful glances at what it means to be us, and how we as people can insert those memories and experiences into the worlds we watch and interact with. Not every piece of advice is for everyone. And that's okay! But what's important is that somewhere in this course I will have a piece of interesting advice or useful experience you can use when playing in your next session or campaign.

What Jessie brings to the table

I'm bringing to the table over a decade and a half of experience leading and playing at the table, all of that time dedicated to being a better guest, a better host, and a better leader amongst both the party and the table. I have access to a wealth of knowledge and experience, as well as some lauded certifications and courses in Leadership, Small Team Management, and the creative passion to build and run an Improv Course in my spare time.

Homebrew rules

Homebrew your head into a self-aware mindset as you prepare to really break down what it means to be a participant and contributor to a table. Each and every aspect of being a player is rooted in the ability to work through both your own experiences and the world around you so that you can channel them into helping a table tell a story.

Safety

How Jessie creates a safe table

We're gonna discuss some limits and lines for what I'm going to do and how everyone will behave. We'll also offer breaks, an X/N/O system, and the ability to simply step away from the seminar at any point. Your safety is always the priority.
