About the adventure

🔰1st-timers welcome!🔰 It’s Silverymoon’s annual summer festival: Elskelter! For three gloriously wild days, work halts at sunset and the Skull Run begins! A city-wide game of hide-n-seek from drunken masked actors that has fellow faire-goers scattering at giggles and gasps. It has been a well-loved and safe event for generations; and, the promise of boons—both magical and monetary—draw in crowds of participants. Of course, not all who attend Elskelter are here for games. It is also a time to catch up with old friends, remember the lost, and forge new alliances. The reasons for coming to Elskelter are as varied as the faire stalls: bright balloons, sweet or savory treats, street buskers, dancers, plays, games, and exotic wonders await under the canopied booths and tents. But this year, the faire seems—different, according to some of the older merrymakers. Silverymoon’s bridge seems… dimmer. Her ruler, quieter. And the fireworks at midnight illuminate a mist that creeps ever closer, surrounding the city. No, something is wrong. The games, the laughter, the merriment, the mayhem—uncover the secrets of the miasma and save Silverymoon before the faire ends and washes whispers away forever. (No clowns included.) Title: A Foggy Faire Fiasco in Faerûn System: Dungeons & Dragons 5e (2024) In use: Player’s Handbook (2024) Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything Style: Whimsy, cozy, Scooby-Doo-level mystery and thriller, festival, game, prizes, low combat, medium-to-high roleplay Have questions? Let me know~ I look forward to playing with you!

About me

I’m a cardigan-wearing, tattooed cozy-gal who enjoys a lo-fi lifestyle. To me, that means wearing elf ears when I go on walks at the park, occasional jazz club visits, and an extreme love of The Last Unicorn, Sailor Moon, Trigun (both the 90s versions), and collecting merkabah-star-shaped gems. I’m a huge advocate of mental health, being AuDHD with a smattering of other neurospice myself; and I strive to create not only ‘safe’ spaces for others, but truly ‘cozy’ spaces where you can finally let out that deep breath and be truly you (and whoever you're playing!). As a GM, I focus on the word 'game'—meaning our time together should be a fun and rewarding for all! Player comfort and enjoyment are my goals for every session. I enjoy crafting worlds with a lot of depth and creativity to them with NPCs that add to the story but never steal the spotlight. I reward roleplaying and weird problem solving, and as always: the rule of cool is champion over crunchy numbers!

Character creation

Creating your character

For first-time players, don't hesitate to ask for help during character creation; we will create characters in a Session Zero that will also field any questions or player needs. But never fear, I'll take the chore of putting your character into Foundry VTT for you! You can confidently join Session One, ready to go! Classes & Subclasses Available: Player's Handbook 2024 Tasha's Cauldron of Everything Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Player Start: Level 3 Starting Gold Bonus: Your highest ability score x 10! You also receive gold via your class and background. Spend it if you like, but *hint, hint* there are a lot of goodies and games at Elskelter~ Ability Score Rolling: ⭐4d6, drop the lowest, reroll 1s. The three highest numbers are totaled. (ex. 5 + 4 + 3 + 1. Reroll the 1; it becomes a 4. The final is 5 + 4 + 4 and we drop the 3 = 13!) ⭐Do this six times. ⭐If any of your six totals are below 8, reroll it. (ex. 7 = reroll) ⭐If you have more than two totals 10 or below, reroll the lowest. (ex. 10, 9, 8 = reroll the 8, keeping the 9 and 10) ⭐Choose the ability for each of your totals freely! I do not use an encumbrance system. If your character could believably or justifiably do it, put it in your pockets. I'll call shenanigans if you run off with a cave troll though.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

PC/ laptop recommended to see VTT (Virtual Tabletop), though no sign-in necessary. I send you a URL, you paste it into your browser of choice, and voila~ Discord and microphone required. Server code of conduct and the table's social contract are posted on the Discord. Likewise, any information can be posted into a campaign channel where players may discuss and chat during or outside game time. Please note, it is NOT mandatory to participate outside session time.

What Serena brings to the table

My promise to you: ⭐ I am here to facilitate a fun time for every player to the best of my ability. ⭐ I will not take away your player agency. ⭐ I will encourage players to progress, but will not push you toward any specific decision. ⭐ I will reward roleplay, collaboration, and creative thinking. ⭐ I will always keep this as a safe space for players (I make no promises to your PCs though). ⭐ I have the final word on rulings. If you disagree, please do so with grace. Aside from that, you can expect patience, a comfortable environment, and an opportunity for some twists and turns. I favor vocal cadences over "voices". Combat will be challenging but I do not try to TPK. If you attempt something and I KNOW it's not possible, I will tell you to save your time and resources.

Homebrew rules

Starting Gold Bonus: Your highest ability score x 10! Fairgrounds "Welcome Bags" come with some useful, silly, rare, and/ or weird items. When determining your HP, take the maximum die value rather than a roll. No encumbrance (within reason). When making your character, I urge you to not worry about min/maxing or making the most mechanically complex thing you can think of. Instead, think about who would attend this event, why/ how they have this much gold, and if they're here to try to win prizes, or if this is a social visit?

Safety

How Serena creates a safe table

Pre-session zero: I send out an anonymous survey to share my table rules, both what to expect from me and what I expect from you. Attached is a section for any triggers or topics you would like to be avoided. I will share the list with the party after everyone has replied and I will not know who has said what to protect your identity. During the session: Interrupt me at any time with "Twinkle, twinkle" and we move on and away from what was being said. Don't want to interrupt, pop the same phrase in chat or even a star emoji and get the same respectful effect. Post-session: I will touch base with the group to see how you feel, and if you do not feel comfortable speaking up in a group, my DMs are open all the time to my players!
