About the adventure
Death was supposed to be the end. Instead, you awoke in Elyndor, a dangerous fantasy world where the bodies you inhabit belonged to real people. Their memories come in fragments. Their families, reputations, promises, and mistakes are now yours to face. For generations, the world has answered the rise of a Demon King by calling forth celebrated Heroes. The cycle keeps repeating. Vaelith has defied divine law to introduce a handful of souls the world never expected, hoping they can discover why its familiar answer never lasts - and choose a different one. Ashenfell: The Broken Cycle blends dark medieval fantasy with isekai and anime-inspired progression. Earn your place in the Adventurer’s Guild, venture into living dungeons, develop distinctive Soul Classes and divine Boons, and build relationships with people whose lives continue beyond your quests. Power can grow spectacularly here, but trust, survival, and change must be earned. This is a character-driven campaign about identity, inherited responsibility, and agency. There is danger and loss, but also humor, friendship, romance, small kindnesses, and the possibility of making a better future than the one the gods have planned.

About me
Hey everyone, I’m Mutt - a 26-year-old storyteller and DM who’s been living and breathing tabletop RPGs for years. I’ve been running games as a DM for 4 years and as a Storyteller for 2, but my real foundation runs deeper: 8 years deep in D&D 5e and 6 years in Vampire: the Masquerade. That time has taught me how to craft worlds that feel alive, where every choice matters and every character has room to breathe, scheme, or shine. Whether we’re diving into high-stakes political intrigue in the World of Darkness or exploring rich character-driven adventures in the Forgotten Realms, my goal is always the same: make sure everyone at the table feels seen, heard, and hyped to be there. If you’re looking for a game that balances serious narrative weight with genuine fun and good vibes, hit me up. Let’s build something unforgettable together.

Creating your character
We’ll create your character together before your first session so they have a place in the ongoing story from the moment they arrive. You’ll start at level 3, using rolled Ability Scores (or Point-Buy, if you'd rather not roll). You'll have three arrays to roll, with the option to choose one of the three rolled arrays or reverting to Point-Buy. Your character sheet will be built on D&D Beyond and imported into Foundry VTT; I’ll help set it up and explain any Ashenfell-specific abilities. Ashenfell uses D&D 5e alongside custom Soul Classes, Core Arts, and other forms of progression. Bring a character concept, personality, and a goal rather than trying to build the entire sheet alone. We'll work through it all together!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You’ll need access to the Foundry game and my Discord server before we play. Please test your microphone ahead of time to ensure proper quality and connection, and review the character sheet and any custom abilities we set up together. You do not need to memorize the world’s lore before joining.
What Mutt brings to the table
I provide the Foundry VTT game, character sheets, maps and scenes, Guild Slates, custom modules/animations, and the setting material needed to understand your character’s place in Elyndor. I’ll help new players join the ongoing story and make sure their characters have reasons to care about what is happening now. My games mix character-driven roleplay, exploration, mysteries, and tactical fights. Enemies have motives, conversations matter, and creative uses of the environment can change an encounter. I welcome bold ideas and use the rules to give choices weight; success, failure, and consequences all help move the story forward. Expect dark fantasy with danger and difficult decisions, as well as humor, friendship, and moments of genuine hope.
Homebrew rules
Ashenfell uses D&D 5e as its foundation and adds setting-specific character progression. Soul Classes express a character’s unusual path and can develop through play. Most Adventurers awaken a Core Art at level 3, with later growth tied to the campaign’s progression system. You all, however, will start with a special Divine Boon. I’ll explain the rules relevant to your character during creation and keep their abilities on your Foundry sheet. Any additional house rules that affect your build or regular gameplay will be discussed before your first session.

How Mutt creates a safe table
Before you join, we’ll discuss the campaign’s themes and any subjects you want excluded or kept offscreen. Ashenfell contains dark fantasy, violence, danger, prejudice within the fictional world, and characters dealing with loss and inherited trauma. I’ll share relevant content warnings in advance and check in when a storyline introduces something more intense. At any point, you can ask to pause, skip, or change a scene by speaking up or messaging me privately. You do not have to explain why. We’ll address the concern and continue in a way that works for the table. I also welcome a check-in after difficult sessions and will revisit boundaries as the story develops. Additionally, upon joining, you'll receive an RPG Consent Checklist that will only be seen by me.
