About the adventure
Defy the Gods is a Powered by the Apocalypse system, with a queer sword and sorcery/fantasy Mesopotamia setting. You’re on the outskirts of society, choosing to fight against the World Forces and shape your own destiny… but if you burn too brightly you will join them. A single kiss or single sword strike can change everything. Very rules-lite, with playbook-specific actions and actions any player can take. For Session Zero, we'll build our characters together, including defining our relationships with each other. Then we'll establish the World Forces of our setting, including our Pantheon and our City. To finish off Session Zero, we'll have a "World Scene" where players take on the roles of important side characters (NPCs) to answer a question about the greater world around them. Depending on player choices during Session Zero, this campaign will follow one of two adventure seeds from Defy the Gods: Scoundrels & Scions - The Splendid Annunciation of the End of the World by Kevin Kulp or Chaos Unleashed by Sebastian Yūe. All other sessions will end with a World Scene, letting players glimpse the consequences of their actions and future dangers to come, and reviewing the Palette Grid as a table to determine if changes should be made.

About me
I've been exposed to TTRPGs since I was little, playing them since I was a teenager and running them for around two years. My first system as a player was one of the many editions of D&D, but I prefer to run rules-lite systems. I'm currently a convention GM for a few systems including Paranoia, Defy the Gods, and DarkSpace. Oneshots are where I shine, and I try to make sure everyone's having a good time.

Creating your character
We'll build characters together during Session Zero. I have eight playbooks available - The Revenant, The Sailor, The Soldier, The Sorcerer, The Vessel, The Wolfling, The Thief, and The Demigod. As we create our characters, we'll also build the world together!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need a Discord account, and to join the Discord server I use for my games. You'll also need some sort of PDF reader, since I'll be sending out form-fillable PDF versions of the playbooks. I have a dice bot available in the Discord server, but players are welcome to use their own physical dice if they'd prefer.
What Rachel brings to the table
I'll provide the Rules Reference sheets, along with all the playbooks as form-fillable PDFs. We'll be creating our characters and determining their relationships together, along with building the World Forces. Once we have our World Forces created, I'll share the documents with everyone in the Discord server for reference. I run theatre-of-the-mind games, which works very well with this system's way of handling combat and other interactions.

How Rachel creates a safe table
We'll use the Pallete Grid (a modified version of Lines and Veils) to discuss what we're comfortable with during Session 0, and we'll update the grid at the end of each session. https://possumcreek.medium.com/the-palette-grid-a-safety-tool-e66520c6971c
