About the adventure
Phandelver and Below The Shattered Obelisk is a classic Dungeons and Dragons adventure set in the high fantasy world of The Sword Coast in the Forgotten Realms. This game is designed for players that want to start at level one and grow their character to level twelve while expanding their personal knowledge and experience in Dungeons and Dragons through immersive gameplay. The adventure is relatively combat heavy starting with simple yet exciting encounters at level one and growing to epic tactical combats that use all the skills you learned along the way to level twelve. There are many great opportunities for roleplay with well developed NPC's (Non-player characters) who live in and populate the Sword Coast. Many of them hold information or secrets that must be discovered to solve the mysteries and complete the quests that call the players to action. The themes of the adventure range from frontier heroism at the start where characters travel the landscape completing quests to a more macabre eldritch horror style dungeon crawl in the Underdark aiming to thwart the grand plans of an evil villain in the second half. I really enjoy all the combat opportunities in this adventure and it serves as a great way to learn the game and the D&D 5e 2024 rule set. Of course, rules are meant to be broken, so The Rule of Cool always has a place at the table when the opportunity arises. The goal is for everyone at the table to feel welcome regardless of their level of experience. This game is meant to be FUN and I find that DnD players tend to embrace the opportunity to help guide new players and accept them into the grand and amazing world of Dungeons and Dragons. I really want to be your gamemaster so I can show you how much I love this game and all that it has to offer. So come join me and this amazing community of DnD RPGs! We will have a FREE session zero to cover all needs/wants, safety tools, character creation and approval and any other questions or concerns that you may have.

About me
My name is Quinn and I love D&D! I played AD&D as a kid had so much fun home brewing adventures for my friends. I really enjoy a high fantasy setting and all the landscapes, creatures and adventure that comes with it. I play D&D online and I look forward to being emersed in the game even more by running games of D&D 5.5 as much as possible. I enjoy a game that has lots of high-stakes tactical combat, some clues and puzzles and a great story that comes to life at the table through roleplaying. I have spent a lot of time familiarizing myself with the rules but always feel that there is room for "The Rule of Cool" when the story demands it. My main interest and goal is FUN! I wouldn't love this game so much if I didn't have so much every time I played it. I really want to be your gamemaster and show you just how much I love playing a game of D&D by making your adventure come alive at the table.

Homebrew rules
We will cover homebrew rules at session zero but here are some I like and some ideas that are possible. -Drinking Potions is a bonus action and you roll dice for healing -Drinking Potions as an action gives full healing of the specific potion (no rolls required) ***OPTIONAL*** We will decide together how to handle Critical Hits (a roll of 20 during combat on a 20 sided dice) - Crunchy Crit?- Roll regular damage and add max possible damage plus modifiers to get total damage. -Regular Crit- Roll all damage dice twice before adding modifiers And Critcal Misses- A roll of 1 on a 20 sided dice is always a miss in combat but there is an option to add a Flavor to the failure such as a broken wepon or damage to yourself. Game Master will devise a rollable table to randomize a critical miss.

Safety
How Quinn creates a safe table
Safety is a crucial part of the experience. We will cover lines and veils in the session 0 and describe all the ways you can use the safety tools during a session. For example... if a topic arises during gameplay that you are not comfortable with, you can simply send me a private message with a letter "X". This will tell me that the current scene has crossed a line and I will discretely and privately move the group on from that scene or subject. Players will all need to have a free discord account to play in the game which is also a great way to send private messages to me, the gamemaster, at any time to disclose anything you are not comfortable discussing with the group. The game will be audio only so we will go over ways to send me your "X" during gameplay if I or another player have opened up a topic that you are not comfortable with being in the game. We will also take at least one 5 minute break during the game where messages can be sent and topics can be addressed. This is YOUR game and your comfort and safety are my top priority.
