About the adventure

Inspired by Dungeon Crawler Carl, Delicious in Dungeon, Monster Hunter, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Princess Mononoke, The Legend of Zelda, The Dark Crystal, and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind Tone & Feel: Absurd, Comedic, Creepy, Fun, Lighthearted, Silly, High Fantasy, Anime, LitRPG Themes: Circle of Life, Friendship & Loyalty, Nature’s Bounty, Overcoming Fear, Violence & Peace Welcome to D’qaria! Your journey begins on Vael Tersyne, commonly called the "Proving Shore", a warm, lush island designed by the Empire to test rising adventurers, monster hunters, and scholars before they venture out into the wider world. From the bustling port city of Betford to the overgrown ruins of the Green Scar. This is a homebrew setting I've created and have been adding to for years thanks to events from multiple campaigns my players have all created. Long ago, within the heart of the Plover Caves, Hylaeus the Forest Mage (she/her) cast a powerful spell, creating a Lure that draws dangerous creatures from the surrounding area into the caverns. For centuries, this kept any harm from coming to the village of Elmore. However, the caves are now filled to the brim with strange, unexpected creatures from across the region, and the remnants of outsiders brave or foolhardy enough to venture into them. But nobody from Elmore is foolish enough to be caught dead in the caves. The quiet, rustic village is full of bakers and weavers, farmers and cobblers, with not a sword in sight! The villagers are more concerned about not mucking up their contribution to the yearly Stewpot Festival than the dangers outside their walls. That was until the village’s beloved halfling mayor Dougle (he/him) was attacked by a dangerous creature during his daily hike through Plover Woods. The Lure created by Hylaeus all those years ago is fading, and with it, Elmore’s protection. As increasingly dangerous beasts stalk the woods, the villagers have banded together to reignite the ancient spell, calling on anyone who might pick up a blade to descend into the caves and save their people. Unfortunately, the defenseless people of Elmore have ceased hunting and foraging in Plover Woods for fear of attack until the Lure is reactivated, there isn’t much to spare, so every bite in town is precious. Anyone venturing into the caves will have to hunt and prepare their own food while they’re down there! This campaign is built ground-up to be 100% beginner-friendly! Whether you are brand new to D&D 5e or an experienced player looking to explore a fresh, lore-rich fantasy universe, you'll find a welcoming table with patient rules teaching, character-driven storytelling, and thrilling tactical combat.

About me

Hi, I'm Bruce! I’m a Game Master dedicated to delivering deeply immersive, character-driven adventures, thanks to my background in theater and a passion for many tabletop RPGs. Here's What I Bring to the Table: Performative Roleplay: I act out unique voices, personalities, and mannerisms for every single NPC to make the world feel alive. Master Storyteller: I weave rich, layered plots that react dynamically to your choices. Your character's backstory isn't just flavor text, I want it to directly help drive the narrative. Player-First Focus: I balance deep lore with high agency and fluid pacing. I prioritize table mood, momentum, and the "rule of cool" over rigid rules-lawyering. High-Stakes Encounters: From atmospheric horror to tactical combat, every session is designed to keep you on the edge of your seat. Whether you're a veteran player or brand new to the hobby, my goal is to give you an unforgettable story where your hero takes center stage!
