About the adventure

Day one, the sun dimmed. Day two, the twin moons disappeared. Day three, streaks of light fell from the sky and exploded. The world is now a scary place. Your world was a thriving mix of five cities, home to marvellous steampunk technology: monorails, airships, and more. All of it relied on the sun, and now needs a new power source. If you're brave enough, you will discover this. and with it, give hope to your civilisation. In this open world adventure, you'll decide where to go and what to do. Everyone's ideas will help shape the future of the world. You'll visit places your character never knew existed, face monsters, sorcerers, and more. Combat, when it happens, will be against intelligent and formidable foes. The greatest challenge you face is discovering what caused these events... and maybe fixing them. If luck is on your side, you will!

About me

Hey there, my name is Jean-Paul and I'm known as Japes (jay-ps). I'll be your Game Master and a responsible for bringing the games together. Fair warning, I'm dyslexic and have a dry sense of humour. Both rule KO here… I’ve been running games since I was a kid. Back then it was just D&D, since then its beena blast running games like Shadowrun, Call of Cthulhu, Vaesen, Discworld and recently Mothership. During all of those games I’ve found that the shared experience of these fantasy worlds is like a simmering cauldron: we all put our ideas in, and give it a gentle stir. Meaning at this table, there is plenty of room for your imagination to take flight... just don't be like Icarus! All the games I run are in a safe, creative space. All I ask from you is to be courteous to everyone in the game. It doesn't matter if you're playing a 1920s FBI agent in a Cthulhu Mythos romp, a piece of Sapient Pearwood in Discworld, or a Fairy Barbarian who growls at enemies, play them like you’re there. Join us in a game. I can't wait to see how your fun ideas work out.

Character creation

Creating your character

We'll discuss character creation options in Session 0 • We'll be using both Hope & Fear and the Core rulebook options for Species & Classes options.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

No prior experience of the Daggerheart system needed. What I do hope you'll bring: • A desire to roleplay your character and be a cooperative player that shares the spotlight. • Engage with the world and embrace your characters flaws as well as their strengths. Equipment • A reliable PC with a Chromium-based browser. • A working gaming headset, or a mic and headphones. • A webcam is preferred as it adds to the experience. • Free accounts for the systems we use. I'll send links once you've joined.

What Japes brings to the table

• I'll guide you through the game mechanics as we play, so there's nothing to worry about if you're still finding your feet. • I bring the NPCs to life. • Colourful, hand-drawn maps to explore. • Background music, with the volume fully in your control. • Storytelling that brings real suspense to the table. • Optimisation mods that help the game run smoothly on your PC/laptop. • A sprinkle of dry humour that gives every game its own unique flavour.

Safety

How Japes creates a safe table

• Lines and Veils will be requested before the game and the combined list brought to the table in Session 0. • I'm committed to making these games inclusive for every player at the table. • We'll take a 5–10 minute break halfway through the session, plenty of time to top up drinks and snacks. • Should you join after the initial Session 0, we'll have a similar 1-to-1 Session 0 before you embark on the adventure.
