Ragnar takes dedication to a whole new level. I joined a free one shot, this included a session for character creation and a follow up session for anyone who wanted it, he also took my token and without me requesting put together a supreme version as well. He built a whole new world (ok many one shots do this to an extent) but this was far more than most. As a result and the fun we were all having what was theoretically a 3-4 hour game, over ran a more than a little as everyone was so into the world. Ragnor checked a couple of times to ensure this was ok (and offered a jump to the end fight a couple of times in case people needed this) but we all wanted to continue so we ended up with an awesome 7 hour gaming session! My only challenge is that given the Australian timezones his games are often 9am so I am usually at work :-(

Any extra thoughts? I could say a lot about Japes, but first actions speak louder than words... Japes acted as GM for the Deserts of Desolation, an adventure which he converted from first edition AD&D to 5e and I started in May 2021. After that I continued with Japes as GM through a modified version of Waterdeep Dragon Heist, where instead of following the standard storyline it was agreed upfront that we were going to play a band of thieves and Japes managed to seemelessly amend the storyline and ensured the whole plot continued to work. Then I continued a third adventure with Japes as GM - Ghosts of Saltmarsh and am now playing a fourth adventure - Wild Beyond the Witchlight, all with Japes as GM. Japes has a dry (and possibly a touch warped - perfectly balanced for a GM) sense of humour and at Halloween when someone mentioned zombies oh boy did we get zombies. But it was not just about the quantity it was how he wove them into the storyline and then linked it with other things which happened throughout the remainder of the whole adventure. In the rare event Japes does not know a definitive answer he is confident enough to make a pragmatic judgement call ensuring the game continues smoothly and double check later. In summary a knowledgeable, flexible and experienced GM.
