About the adventure

This is an original campaign set in the Dessarin Valley, north of Waterdeep. A short introductory adventure that will go from level 1 to 4. Beginners and veterans alike are welcome. You and your party will be all that stands against a sinister plot. A greedy Lord has set up Knight Ronald Ashford, the peoples savior, for high treason, in a bid to take his lands and the taxable river that runs through it. The pardon that will set Sir Ashford free falls into your hands. Will you make it in time to save his life? Can you stop his enemies from completing this sinister plan? Race the clock from the city of Yartar to the village of Amphail to save a good mans life. You don’t need to know anything about the setting going in. All that's needed to play is the free player accounts on D&D Beyond and Roll20, and we'll use discord for voice and chat. I run a welcoming and open table, we are here to have fun and enjoy each others company while playing a game, everyone is expected to treat each other with kindness and respect. 2014 5e rules

About me

I have been a Dungeon Master for five years. I have run tables for adults and children too. The largest table I have ran for had 8 players. I mainly hold Dungeons and Dragons games, but have done Call of Cthulu and tiny d6 as well. I’ve always been a fan of fun stories, be it books, movies, or games of all kinds. I had wanted to play D&D for a long time before I finally got the chance. I was the DM and we played Lost Mine of Phandelver, I had 8 players -all new- so it was crazy but so fun. After that I did some Play by Post DMing, Solo play, and continued to run in person games. I found StartPlaying two years ago, so I could try being a player. I’ve been in a weekly campaign with a lovely DM here on StartPlaying ever since! Now I want to run some of my own tables here too.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be starting out at level 1, and you can come into session 0 with an idea of what class you want to play if you'd like. I can help you from the ground up if your new to D&D, if not feel free to get your Character sheet started on D&D beyond. No evil PCs. -We will be using point buy for our stats. -You are allowed 1 feat (so no variant human race). -Races out of the players hand book, plus Goliath. -Classes out of the payers hand book as well. -Take the starting equipment, plus one uncommon or two common magic items. Again I will be available to help you make you character from start to finish in Session 0 if you have questions. Don't worry you don't have to have it all figured out before session 0. Session 0 will also be where we come up with character connections if wanted.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I use Discord (voice & chat), Roll 20 (table top), and D&D Beyond (character sheets) to run my games. They all have free versions. Use Beyond20 to link up Roll20 with D&D Beyond. I don't use video in my games so a camera is optional if you desire to use one yourself. When you sign up for my game you'll get a link to my Discord server, the link to connect to the campaign in D&D Beyond, and a invite to the Roll20 game. I'll be happy to answer any questions you have in set up and help you from start to finish with creating your character. Come ready to have fun.

What Arrcher brings to the table

We will be using Roll20 VTT, complete with maps, music, custom tokens, and more! Within my Discord there is a community server where you can meet other players and where additional information will be shown and shared. I will be giving access to my library in D&D Beyond so you can create your characters. I use music to help immerse us in the world. I encourage roleplay (taking the action that your character would take) but that does not have to include voices unless you think it's fun. I do use voices for some of my npcs but I'm not perfect at it. My mission is for everyone to have the best time they can and to build an engaging story together. You can message me through Discord with questions or concerns if you have them.

Homebrew rules

I use the rule that drinking a potion is a bonus action, but feeding it to someone else is an action. Criticals are always awsome: When you get a critical hit the max normal damage is given and you roll the extra dice.

Safety

How Arrcher creates a safe table

In session 0 we will be going over our lines and veils. There will be X cards available in Roll20. After each session I will stay on discord voice to chat and be there if anyone needs to cool down and decompress after the session. This adventure contains: -Violence: The adventure features combat scenarios, including battles with various creatures and NPCs, which may involve graphic descriptions of violence. -Death: Characters may face death, and there are themes surrounding loss and mortality. -Dark Themes: Elements of betrayal, greed, and the pursuit of power are present, which can lead to morally complex situations. -Monsters: Encounters with monstrous creatures may be frightening or unsettling for some players.
