About the adventure
Lost Mine of Phandelver Set in the rugged frontier of the Forgotten Realms, your story begins on the dusty high road to the frontier town of Phandalin. What starts as a simple job escorting a wagon of supplies quickly spiraling into a race to uncover the location of a long-lost cavern holding legendary magical power. Along the way, you’ll clash with ruthless bandit gangs, outwit cunning goblin warlords and delve into ancient, monster-infested ruins where danger lurks around every corner. This campaign is ideal for brand-new players and those eager to dive into a healthy mix of thrilling tactical combat and roleplay. Whether you want to negotiate with a tricky goblin, orchestrate a dramatic stealth ambush or give your hero a compelling backstory that directly influences the plot, this adventure provides the perfect sandbox to learn the ropes of D&D without feeling overwhelmed. Expect an energetic, welcoming table where the story comes first and dynamic player ideas are celebrated. While we’ll use the core rules to keep the game fair and grounded, the Rule of Cool always reigns supreme—if you have a creative, cinematic idea that makes the table cheer, we’ll find a way to let the dice decide! As the cool kids say.... "You can certainly try!"

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hello adventurers! I’m a lifelong GM and RPG enthusiast who first stepped into the world of tabletop gaming back in 1989 with AD&D. Over the last three decades, I have spent roughly 70% of my time behind the GM screen and 30% as a player, giving me a deep understanding of what makes a game truly memorable from both sides of the table. While Dungeons & Dragons is a core passion of mine, my gaming experience has also been shaped by running and playing in diverse systems like Shadowrun and Warhammer Fantasy. My games strike a dynamic balance between roleplay and thrilling, tactical hack-and-slash combat. I love structure but deeply value player freedom, so our campaigns typically begin in a localized sandbox area. This gives you a safe, immersive space to learn the land, test your abilities and get comfortable with your character before the campaign pivots into a massive, living open world.

Creating your character
Season 0 is free Roll20 Pro account for game play Will this happen during the first session, or before it starts? Ideally before season 1. Creating can be done on DnD beyond or in roll20. a game link will be sent via roll20 to allow players to customize there token (or if you chose, provide me a description and I can have a token and image ready for you). How will stats be decided? Please generate stats by rolling 4d6 and dropping the lowest die to obtain your total. Perform this 6 times for your base stats. You can then assign stats based on your personnel preference. What will their starting level be? Players will start at level 1 and advancement will be via Milestone to minimize the book keeping. Where will the characters be created? Characters can be created in DnD Beyond or in Roll20. Once the game is full, I will provide you a game invite to roll20 and the discord. Are there any specific books they should or shouldn't refer to? I have most core books to allow for a wide choice of classes/feats.
I am open to adjusting the mix of combat/roleplay to the tables desires. I normally do a 60/40 combat/roleplay as a base and adjust to the tables desire.

What Victor brings to the table
To bring the world of Phandalin to life, I use a dedicated Discord audio bot for thematic background music and ambient soundscapes. You'll also get custom visuals, maps and detailed handouts throughout the adventure to keep you fully immersed in the story. We’ll use Roll20 grid maps and built-in turn/initiative tracking to keep combat organized and visual. Expect a blend of heroic action and tactical strategy—flanking matters, terrain counts, and working as a team will be key to overcoming tough encounters. The campaign feels like a classic fantasy adventure where your choices matter and danger is real but the focus is always on heroic triumph. Player comfort is a priority, so we will use the X-Card system to ensure everyone feels safe and supported at the table. Standard loot tables can be boring. I actively tweak magic items and rewards based on party composition—because finding a legendary two-handed greataxe when no one in the group can wield it is no fun for anyone! Whether you already have a multi-page backstory or need help coming up with your hero’s origins, I will work with you to weave your character directly into the plot. I’m always available on Discord outside of session times to answer questions, help with character creation, or chat about your builds. I have a roll20 Pro-account to support the game play. Free Session 0 to make sure I understand your wants and desires for your gaming experience!
