About the adventure
You are an adventurer who has come for one reason or another to The Ruined City of Drakkenheim. Lost 15 years ago when a meteor crashed into the center of the crown jewel of Westermar. The city is now filled with the monstrous former inhabitants of the once great city, and a hazy miasma lays like a thick blanket over the city. Corrupting those who venture within without ample protection or luck. However along with the myriad dangers, there is great fortune in the form of Delerium, crystals harvested from within Drakkenheim that have extremely potent magical potential. Embark into the ruined city of Drakkenheim, explore the tangled maze of haze filled streets, uncover the truth of what actually happened when the city fell. And face off against five factions, who will you throw your lot in with, and who will you condemn? 🗡️💰 - The Queen's Men are thieves and mercenaries' intent on extracting whatever fortune remains in Drakkenheim. Their enigmatic Queen of Thieves is the only thing holding them together, but what's her angle? 🏮⚔️- The Hooded Lanterns are the only thing approaching law enforcement in the city, made up mostly of survivors and veterans'. But will their uphill guerrilla war against the horrors of Drakkenheim survive the power struggles? 🛡️🔥 - The Knights of The Silver Order are holy zealots sworn to slay evil, and fight against the darkness. But what will they destroy in the name of burning away the impurities? 🩸🔥- The Followers of The Failing Fire are heretics of the Silver Order, cultists who've discovered some secret in Drakkenheim, what is driving them to seek out Delirium? And who is this enigmatic prophet who leads them? 🪄📖- The Amethyst Academy is the only way for a mage to train their skills and become properly certified. The academy is naturally drawn to Drakkenheim to research this mysterious arcane substance Delerium. What will they do with the knowledge when they discover the meteor's true potential? Explore the eldritch infested ruins of the city, engage in faction intrigue, perform dark magic, become a abominable mutant, fight evil, get filthy rich, and uncover the truth... Embark into the city of Drakkenheim, if you dare!

About me
Hi I'm Miguel! I'm a college graduate with a degree in film studies and a double minor in creative writing and in religion/philosophy studies. I love roleplaying games; they're one of my greatest creative outlets these days. And so, here I am. I love reading/listening to audiobooks, watching movies, playing video games and just in general consuming media. My favorite video games are Disco Elysium, Elden Ring, and Resident Evil 7, my favorite movie is Parasite directed by Bong Joon Ho, and my favorite book is The Bright Sword by Lev Grossman. I've been playing dungeons and dragons since I was 14, so close to ten years now! And I started GMing since before Covid. Suffice it to say I have improved A LOT since then. I've only recently just felt confident enough to really put myself out there to see if I can enjoy this passion of mine while also getting a little money on the side.

Creating your character
-Players should come to session zero with two or more character ideas to 'pitch' to the table. Its perfectly alright if you favor one over the other. - Said characters should be made with the world's lore in mind. Don't come with a premade 'oc' that you place into every game. ☑️ - 5.5e 2024 rules all books are allowed for character options (subclasses, races, feats, etc from previous books is allowed) ☑️- point buy or rolled stats, the players as a whole can choose at the beginning of the campaign. Instead of rolling individually for stats, I like to have each player roll and then the group chooses which array of rolls everyone will use. That way everyone is on equal footing, and you get the fun of rolling. ☑️- Player Characters will start with an uncommon magic item homebrewed by me called a 'legacy' item. Related to your characters backstory and tailored to their playstyle. At certain in character milestones the items will upgrade in strength. ☑️- third party content and homebrew can be used upon careful vetting and request by me. But I'm extremely picky about what homebrew I allow. Third party books like grimhollow, helliana's etc. I am more lenient towards.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Discord and roll20 accounts will be required. If you want you can also read the character creation chapter of The Dungeons of Drakkenheim book. I wouldn't read any further then that however, don't spoil the adventure for yourself.
What Miguel brings to the table
I always have music and will put together a custom playlist for combat and ambience for my game so expect that when you hop into one of my games, I'm downright obsessed with scoring lol. Also, Dungeons of Drakkenheim is unique among campaign books in that it builds in backstory hooks and spotlights for characters. Combined with the fact that I am very much a homebrew hacker who will switch things around in the book and make rewrites to make everyone feel like a cool main character. Don't expect this to be similar to other games of Dungeons of Drakkenheim you've seen or been apart of. Also, rule of cool over rules as written always!
Homebrew rules
I don't like regular flanking rules, so at players discretion we can use a homebrew variant that gives a flat +2 bonus rather than advantage. I also give a +2 bonus for attacking from higher ground like in Baldurs Gate Also, we will be incorporating some challenging survival mechanics. Tracking the party's supplies as well as not being able to Long Rest within Drakkenheim means that exploring will be dangerous and you'll have to stretch and conserve spell slots and resources. Last but not least, I like to give Inspiration for good roleplay and just generally if I like what you're doing at the table. Inspiration from the GM can stack unlike regular heroic inspiration.

How Miguel creates a safe table
I use a lines and veils google form that all my players can fill out before session zero starts. This helps me know what to avoid when creating the sessions and prepping. We'll also discuss some of the content in the game during session zero. Along with the fact that my players are always free to message me with a X, N or O during a session if they're uncomfortable with whats going on.
