About the adventure

The Rim is full of monsters. They hide among the endless crowds of hive cities, beneath flickering corporate advertisements. They crawl through the ventilation shafts of dying orbitals, where the air tastes like rust and recycled sweat. They disappear into the dark places between worlds where nobody asks too many questions. That's where you come in. You're a bounty hunter. Maybe you chose this life. Maybe it chose you. Either way, somewhere out there is a name attached to a number, and that number might be enough to keep your ship flying for another month and put something that vaguely resembles food on the table. So you go where nobody else is willing to go. You follow trails that have already gone cold. You kick open doors that should have stayed closed. You crawl through maintenance tunnels with a cheap flashlight in one hand and a rental FN Slug Revolver in the other. You make deals with criminals, corporations, desperate families, and things that nobody has a name for yet. Not every target deserves what's coming for them. Not every employer deserves to get what they paid for. But you do the dirty work because if you fall behind on your payments, perhaps someone, somewhere, will put a price on your head. Mothership is a science-fiction horror RPG about ordinary people trapped in very bad situations. Stress builds. Panic sets in. Plans fall apart. Violence is fast and lethal. You are not destined to save the galaxy. You're someone trying to survive it, pushing forward against impossible odds because turning back isn't an option. Using the Wages of Sin expansion, each session throws you into the hard life of a bounty hunter on the edges of a cold and unforgiving galaxy. Every game brings a new bounty, a new destination, and a new job that sounded much simpler before you took it. No previous experience with Mothership is required. Everything you need to play will be taught at the table. There's a bounty waiting for you somewhere in the Rim. Do you have what it takes?

About me

Hello, passengers! This is your captain speaking. Please fasten your seatbelts as we prepare for departure into strange new worlds! 🚀 Coming from a background in film, VFX, and graphic design, I bring those same tools to the table: atmosphere, impactful framing, cinematic pacing, and an eye for moments that stay with you long after the credits roll. Rest assured that at my table, it is your choices that fuel the narrative engines of the games we will play. Whether you sprint across the roof of a moving train to catch an enemy spy beneath a neon sky, desperately run through the boot-up sequence of your mech surrounded by the burning wreckage of your comrades-in-arms, explore the crumbling ruins of a long-lost civilization deep in the Andes, or stand at the edge of time and space witnessing the last light of a dying star, I will be there with you every step of the way. Together, we will turn hard choices into harder consequences, and transform those moments into memories through cinematic gameplay. Whether this journey takes the shape of hyper-kinetic action, quiet reflection, or emotional roller coasters, we will create a welcoming and safe space for everybody at the table. I hope to see you in a game soon!

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation happens before the session so we can maximize game time once we sit down to play. After joining the party, you’ll receive access to our private Discord server, where we’ll provide everything you need for the session. We’ll be using Mothership’s own Companion App as our character keeper and dice roller, and we’ll work together to adapt your character concept and establish relationships within the crew before the game begins. That way, everyone arrives at the table with strong connections and plenty of story momentum. No previous experience with Mothership is required. Whether you already have a fully formed concept or just a vague idea and a cool aesthetic in mind, I’ll help guide you through the process. My DMs are always open for character discussions, questions, worldbuilding ideas, and helping you find the character that feels right for you and the story.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

All you need is a Discord account so you can hop on to our Discord server, a microphone, a headset and stable internet! (Video camera not required.) Also be sure to download or have access to the Mothership Companion App. (It's FREE!)

What Arturo Guerra brings to the table

Mothership shines when ordinary people are pushed far beyond what they were prepared to handle. Your character doesn't need to be fearless, competent, or ready for everything the Rim throws at them. They're allowed to hesitate. They're allowed to panic. They're allowed to make mistakes. Play them like a real person trying to get through a very bad situation, and let the consequences take us somewhere unexpected. My games are run with a cinematic, theater-of-the-mind approach with a strong emphasis on immersion, mounting tension, character-driven role-play, and collaborative, fiction-first storytelling. We'll slow down when the silence matters, move fast when everything goes wrong, and give characters room to breathe, argue, improvise, and figure out how they're going to survive whatever waits behind the next bulkhead. Expect hard decisions and consequences that matter. The Rim is cold, dangerous, and rarely fair, but this isn't about finding the "correct" solution to every problem. Take risks. Follow your instincts. Make hard choices, and watch how the consequences shape an unforgettable story. No previous experience is required. If this is your first time playing Mothership, there's no need to study the rules beforehand. I'll introduce the mechanics as we need them and handle the technical side so you can stay focused on your character, the crew, and the situation unfolding around you. Bring a character willing to take the job. Bring a reason they desperately need the money. I'll take care of the rest.

Safety

How Arturo Guerra creates a safe table

At the beginning of the game, we’ll establish the table’s Lines and Veils and make sure everyone knows the X-Card is available throughout the session with no questions asked. My goal is to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable and safe so we can focus on telling an amazing story together. After the session, I’m always happy to stay around, debrief, and hear everyone’s thoughts and feelings about the experience.
