About the adventure
A pulp noir detective adventure in a cyberpunk setting. Inside the sprawling Megaplex of Striving, the murder of a machine is nothing more than data-loss. Thrown together by circumstance, an unlikely group must navigate the metal city. Its cold logic, its mysterious machine‑factions, its glittering districts where danger hides behind the neon lights. Every clue you gather pulls you deeper into the gears of the city; get too close and it will grind you up. There will be chases, gunfights and lots and lots of sleuthing. This adventure will serve as an exciting introduction to the Starfinder 2E universe and its rules.

About me
Hey folks, I'm Mike! I am a big time gamer, hobby enthusiast and mental health counsellor. I love when games and hobbies bring people together and create pocket communities filled with support and inside jokes. I find most joy in games that require deep mechanics, collaboration, teamwork from Warhammer, Dota 2, and Magic the Gathering commander format. However, my biggest passion has been for TTRPGs, a love affair that has lasted over 15 years. I think the key to a great time in any hobby is prioritising the fun and TTRPGs are no different. Life is full of difficulties and stress, and we all deserve a way to disconnect for a while and immerse ourselves in fantasy. That is why I prioritise communication, being approachable and friendly to my players. If we all prioritise fun, then we all know we are working towards the same goal as a team. I have a love of investing time to help others get more confident in new systems or with role-playing in general. I am no voice-actor or master of accents, but I commit to the character and the bit 100% anyway. I love to run worlds that are consistent and reactive to the players, making your actions, attitudes and relationships matter to the world around you. This is the part of TTRPGs that video games can never match, and is always at the forefront at my games.

Creating your character
When? Character Creation will take place during session 0. Where? Over on Discord using Pathbuilder, and then on FoundryVTT, I'll send out the links to Discord before session 0. We will be creating the characters on both Pathbuilder, and on FoundryVTT. This serves to gives us 2 copies on different platforms, and lets you see a bit more of the FoundryVTT interface. What? Characters will be build at level 1 and will progress to level 2 during the adventure. You can use any common or uncommon Ancestry from Starfinder 2E, and any of the 8 Classes released so far. If you would rather use a pre-generated character to learn the game as I have 6 available. How? I will go through every step of character creation with you, and answer any and all questions as we go. It will be my role to support you in bringing your ideas to manifest.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
It is important that you install Discord and have an account all set up ready to go before session 0. The link for the Discord server will be shared through a direct message before session 0. I already have FoundryVTT and all the required mods installed, all you will need is to follow the web browser link that will be provided on my Discord server. Other than that, just bring yourselves.
What Mike brings to the table
Style: The style of the game will be an exciting cyberpunk investigation, with multiple different styles of encounters; chases, gunfights, and complex hazards. As always with my games, the other inhabitants and villains of the galaxy will all react to you and your decisions. This will be a fantastic experience and guide for new player to role-playing or anyone new to the system of Starfinder 2E. Combat: It's an absolute blast and in my opinion the biggest selling point of Starfinder 2E. There is so much to do and a role for everyone to play that feel strong and diverse. From an area-firing minigun wielding Soldier, a reality bending caster known as Witchwarpers, or be a conduit for stellar forces in the Solarian, just to name a few. In Starfinder 2E combat is tactical and expects you to work as a team. All combats will be on a well produced map, this is to give the most tactical feeling and enjoyment from the encounters. It may all seem like a lot as first, but it is my job as the GM to help you understand the rules, support you in learning the workings of your character. Music: Your FoundryVTT experience will curated by music that matches and amplifies the mood of the scene. However, it is optional. I understand some people find music distracting so there will be easy to access options to turn down or turn off music at anytime. Voices: I love to give characters voices and distinct personalities, that being said I'm no professional voice actor or drama graduate. What I bring is commitment to the bit and a goal of having a good time with it. Rules as Written: Yes, this game will be ran very close to RAW. I do love Rule of Cool, but inside of Pazio's systems of Pathfinder 2e and Starfinder 2E the rules themselves allow for cooler, and more rewarding moments if followed closely. This being said, never say never.
Homebrew rules
I avoid using homebrew or variant rules for a beginners adventure. So we will be using standard Starfinder 2E rules.

How Mike creates a safe table
After every session I will remain in the server for at least 10 minutes for any Aftercare that is wanted post session. Here we can chat about the game or anything really, just to help bridge that gap from the game to our regular lives. I will be scheduling a break at about the halfway mark each session for 10 minutes or so. 4 hours is a long time to be sat, and this provides time for me to move around, stretch, grab a drink Etc. There will be an "open door" understanding at the table. For any reason, if you feel like you need step away for a few moments that is perfectly okay, and not to be judged. If you are able to let us know that you are just stepping away verbally, or by messaging me that would be appreciated, just so I know that you will be back. At session 0 we will discuss the theming of the game a bit more. But also I will be linking some Lines and Veils sheets to fill in. It is not mandatory to fill them in. However, it can be helpful for your own enjoyment of the game to make sure any Lines and Veils you have are known, both to me and the other players.
