About the adventure
A Night of Fright! A Haunting Adventure of Meddling Heroes and Their Talking Gnoll. Written and designed by Steven Pankotai, available on DMsGuild. Mystery LLC is back, and this time, the meddling pros are tackling their biggest challenge yet. A mysterious benefactor promises 1 million gold if the team can survive one night in a haunted mansion filled with traps, terrors, and twisted secrets. Players will chase clues, unmask lies, and face creeping horrors as they unravel what’s really happening inside those cursed walls… because something far darker is waiting in the depths below. Mystery LLC has been solving cases since their plucky teen days, usually exposing simple schemes and real estate scams with ease. But years of strange encounters have sharpened their instincts, and their combat skills. Now they’re seasoned investigators stepping into a haunted house that might finally be the real deal! This adventure blends comedy, suspense, and classic mystery‑hunting chaos for a high‑energy, clue‑cracking one‑shot you won’t soon forget. Step into the haunted house as one of Mystery LLC’s iconic, over‑the‑top heroes: Sha‑Gi – Human Monk (Way of the Coward) A jittery martial artist whose greatest power is running away really fast… and somehow surviving anyway. Sir Frederick – Half‑Orc Paladin (Oath of Traps) A noble knight sworn to detect, disarm, and occasionally blunder directly into every trap imaginable. Dafni – Tiefling Warlock (Warlock of the Damsel) A glam‑goth investigator empowered by a mysterious “damsel” patron who thrives on drama and spooky flair. Vell’mah – Halfling Rogue (Bespectacled Sleuth) A sharp‑eyed detective armed with oversized glasses, razor‑keen instincts, and a knack for uncovering secrets. S’koobi – Gnoll Bard (College of Snacks) A snack‑powered bard whose musical magic, and bottomless appetite, fuel the team’s courage in the face of terror.

Meet the Game Master
About me
As an organized and detail-oriented Narrative Game Master, I bring rich plot lines and immersive story elements to every campaign and one-shot. I specialize involving players seamlessly into the narrative to create cohesive, unforgettable adventures. With experience spanning decades, from my start with the basic Dungeons & Dragons to my deep love for 3.5 edition, I’ve honed my skills and storytelling craft over time. After returning to 5E four years ago, I’ve been hosting weekly online games that keep players engaged and coming back for more. Currently, I run campaigns using the 2024 Dungeons & Dragons rules with a blend of 2014, on the Shard Tabletop (VTT) platform. Let’s roll the dice and make stories come alive!

What to expect
Preparing for the session
Everyone will need to have a decent mic for voice chat through Discord, there is also a text chat on Shard, Shard is free and browser based and even works well on mobile. A decent grasp of 5Es mechanics is helpful, but enthusiasm and engagement are crucial. I can help with character creation, if desired.
What DocApocalypse brings to the table
I have several years worth of content on Shard VTT, a plethora of maps, token borders, dice and homebrewed magic items and monsters. I have plenty of background music and some Foley files to add to the ambience. This adventure will be pure Rule of Cool and a wild ride. Characters can be made directly on Shard, which is updated to the 2024 ruleset.
Homebrew rules
Drinking a potion is a bonus action, we use XP for leveling and when you level up it's immediate with all the benefits. We use Inspirations, Dramatic Inspirations, Luck points and Heroic Feats.

How DocApocalypse creates a safe table
This adventure is more comedy focused and other than some scares and chases, it's mostly PG-13, except for the final combat, which is where it becomes real, and death may happen.
