About the adventure

Daggerheart is a fun, rules-medium game. And the campaign frame of Journey to Horizon the the "hexploration"-expansion to the base game. The premise of it is simple: After a thousand years of isolation, your party is entrusted with a piece of the goddess Aurelia. Protect it from a rival cult, find the other pieces, and put her back together. Your map is a thousand years old. You'll travel through a massive hexagonal map, clearing the proverbial fog of war and discover lush landscapes and diverse biomes teeming with potential and danger. But that's not all: you'll have social encounters to navigate, and combat will play a hefty role in protecting your vessel of light, and your lives, from the many threats lurking in the transformed continent New Valloren.

About me

Hello World! What stories are in store for today? ________________ Hi, I'm Xamos. And I look tremendously forward to your characters. They are the main ingredient in the imaginary world we co-create. Does your Warrior belong to an order? Who wronged your Ranger, who messed with your Rogue? Which far-away homeland is your Sorcerer from, and what is the most visible cultural difference? These details leave ripples in the pond of the adventure and influence where it goes. A crystalline fractal of how's and why's branching out, for you to uncover, explore, and influence your character decisions. Your question about how things are and what your character knows molds as much of the world as my preparations. Systems I have run extensively: The Dark Eye 4.1., Splittermond, D&D5e (so much!), Fantasy Age, Coriolis, Candela Obscura, Daggerheart Don't get me started on the smaller Systems, too numerous to count. If you made it this far, take a hope and clear a stress, or take inspiration. You earned it. See you soon!

Character creation

Creating your character

We will create collaboratively Level 1 characters during a free session 0, where I will guide you through each step of the process. This can be via a free Demiplane account, where I will enable content sharing of the Core Rules as well as the Hope&Fear expansion for you all. You may also create your character with pen&paper, though rolls will be made online through freshcutgrass.com or Roll20.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

For videochat and voicechat we will use Discord. Handouts, battlemaps and character tokens will happen on Roll20, where you will need a free account as well. Freshcutgrass is a tool I use for tracking Fear and countdowns, but you don't need an account for that. For an entertaining start into the rules, I can highly recommend the "Get Your Sheet Together"-Series of short and sweet videos by Critical Role on youtube.

What Xamos brings to the table

You can expect me to: - use music to enhance your experience - get into character as NPCs (and do voices as well as I can muster ;-)) - know the rules by heart and break them in exceptional moments - provide some picturesque backgrounds - prepare the Valloren Exploration map - ground the combat encounters in motive

Homebrew rules

If damage is equal or exceeds double the severe threshold, the damaged target marks 4 HP, as suggested in the core rulebook. Very rewarding for players who crit, very dramatic for players who get critted.

Safety

How Xamos creates a safe table

We will do Lines and Veils during session 0. Also, we will do digital X, N, and O's, where you can message me the letters directly via Discord or Roll20.
