About the adventure
Arkham, MS, seems to attract the unexplained, unreal, and even the unearthly. Doctor Henry Armitage formed a special group of young people (students looking for a unique way to earn extra college credits) to form the Society for the Exploration of the Unexplained, or the SEU. These students (current and former) from Arkham University find plenty of work looking into the many strange events in the city. Session 0 will use the "Stage Fright" one-shot setting. This is relatively short (usually 3 hours), which gives time for players to introduce their investigators and learn the system. Sessions 1 and 2 will begin with the "Al-Azif: The Unravelling" story line. Sessions 3 through 9 expand on Al-Azif as Investigators deal with the aftermath of that powerful artifact.

About me
I like to run story-driven games with a good balance of combat and roleplay as appropriate for the system. Like so many, I started playing TTRPGs during COVID. In that time, I have run and played dozens of campaigns and one-shot adventures. Dungeons and Dragons was my first, but I am especially fond of Call of Cthulhu. My many hobbies include game design (board games and TTRPG content), and writing. I am a veteran who enjoys creative, tactical combat in D&D, and I am a history buff who enjoys historical accuracy in Call of Cthulhu. I am happy to play with either experienced or new players. As long as everyone is having fun, nothing is off the table.

Creating your character
Characters will use the point buy in the Charactermancer in Roll20. Players will use the provided profession or work with the GM (Keeper) to make a custom profession. Core abilities must have at least 40 points, and no skill can be more than 80. Players will either take 4x of one core ability or 2x of two core abilities for a custom profession. As always, add 2x INT for personal interest.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players need a free, Roll20 account and should join the HammerQuest Games Discord here: https://discord.gg/zF6yV9hFMZ
What Oren brings to the table
My games use theater of the mind heavily except for combat scenes. When maps are used, I enable dynamic lighting. I have ambient music for most scenes, but you may mute this if you find it distracting. In this game, I let players draw their own conclusions. I may not tell you if a roll is a success or failure, and your character may find information that you later discover was incorrect.
Homebrew rules
I do not use homebrew rules by design in this game. Call of Cthulhu is reasonably rules light, and I rarely stop to look rules up if I do not have an immediate answer.

How Oren creates a safe table
We will discuss Whisper chats during session 0. I use X, N, O via whisper chat, and Roll20 offers built in cards for player use. In addition, I will ask players to fill out a Lines and Veils survey before we start. Players are always free to discuss items directly with me.
