About the adventure

The galaxy is vast, unforgiving, and incredibly expensive. For the crew of the Junk Drawer, staying afloat means taking the jobs respectable pilots won’t touch. She isn’t the sleekest star freighter in the quadrant, and her hull carries the scars of a hundred narrow escapes, but she’s home. Held together by dented bulkheads, jury-rigged hyperdrives, and sheer stubbornness, this slightly beat-up vessel slips through the cracks of civilized space, carrying a ragtag team of mercenaries and rogues who survive on a volatile mix of luck, grit, and stolen spare parts. Operating on the absolute closest side of the law, the crew navigates a dangerous underworld where alliances are bought, trust is a liability, and corporate federations are always watching. From smuggling contraband past high-tech planetary blockades to pulling off high-stakes interstellar heists against corrupt syndicates, every contract is a gamble. The Junk Drawer might rattle like a tin can when hitting atmospheric reentry, but her unpredictable nature makes her the perfect weapon for a crew that thrives on chaos and quick exits. But the pressure is mounting. Fuel cells are depleting, local sector marshals are closing in, and the crew's mounting debts are catching up to them. When whispers of an impossible, legendary payload echo through the spaceport cantinas, the crew must decide how much they are willing to risk. It’s a job that could paint a permanent target on their backs—or finally secure the legendary, life-altering score that lets them leave the criminal underworld behind for good. This high-flying sci-fi campaign of desperate gambles and dangerous heists will be run using Monte Cook’s Cypher ruleset. Players will leverage unique descriptors, type abilities, and an ever-shifting arsenal of single-use cyphers to push through high-stakes difficulty tiers and pull off the ultimate interstellar caper.

About me

I've run games for adults. I've run games for kids. I've run games for newbies. I've run games for experienced players. I've run games for just about everyone! Whether it's a group of new players who can't wait to nail their first nat 20, a pack of grizzled grognards clutching their old "red box" editions of 1E, or a mix of the two, I love helping people make-believe, have some fun, and escape reality for a while. I do my level best to make everyone feel like they're tossing dice at my dining room table. All are welcome! Join one of my existing games, or contact me to curate an experience for your gaming group.

Character creation

Creating your character

My players have several options for character creation. I have multiple pre-generated characters already worked up. If you like one of those, feel free to use them. Each one comes with rich backgrounds and multiple plot hooks for the upcoming campaign. Of course you can use one of the pre-generated characters as a starting point and customize them any way you'd like. If you don't see something you like in one of the pre-generated characters, feel free to contact me with a concept and we can work up something custom for you. I am happy to let my players run with whatever character concept they would enjoy that fits in well with the overall theme of the upcoming campaign. If you get started playing and find out that the character that you're playing is not quite what you were hoping for, I'm also happy to respec a character or let you roll up one completely new and work it back into the campaign.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

All you need to join my game is to sign on to my Discord server and contact me about what kind of character you would like to play.

What DM G. brings to the table

I'm here to make sure my players have a good time. This will feel as much like an in-person session at my house as possible. I use detailed descriptions to build an immersive fantasy world and highlight it all with my best NPC voices and sound effects! Embrace your character, play the role, and glorious adventure will be yours. I never let the details get in the way of a good story, and a good story is just as much laughter as it is serious. Each game with me is a new experience, and with the way my improv mind wanders, never the same game twice!

Homebrew rules

I will be using the rules from the new Cypher. If we find that any of the rules don't suit our needs, we can develop our own over the course of the campaign.

How DM G. creates a safe table

At our Session 0, one of our most important goals will be to set expectations and make sure everyone has a comfortable experience. Following each session, I will review any messages from players on how to adjust for a better experience!
