About the adventure
After a 1000 year cataclysm the wards around Marrowgate have fallen and a shard of the goddess Aurelias soul has been found. That echo calls out to its 9 sisters longing to be reunited with them. Should those shards be reunited in the place where the goddess sacrificed herself it would enable her resurrection and allow her to repair the broken world of Valloren. However even a fragment of a dead goddess has power and for reasons of it's own has shared a fraction of it's power with a few souls that can help reunite it's sisters granting them abilities not seen in generations to help them on their quest. The Journey to Horizon will see the party explore a land ravaged by a 1000 year cataclysm in search of the shards of a dead goddess. They will explore a vast broken land filled with both wonders and horrors. All the while a pair of competing factions seek the shards for themselves for much darker purposes. What Journey to Horizon is NOT is a survival game so tracking food and water, where they are coming from, and how much they weight are not a major part of the campaign outside of very specific circumstances. NOTE: The games on Sept 23rd and October 7th are both free in celebration of the Alchemy VTT release event for Hope and Fear.

About me
I've been playing DND for as long as I can remember and bringing worlds to life with my players is one of my great passions. I do some volunteer activities locally to to introduce new people to the hobby and their ages tend to range between 7 and 15 for the most part but there are some outliers as high as 75 so I've gotten good at explaining the rules for a wide variety of systems. Since moving to a small town I've decided to see if I can share my passion for communal storytelling with a wider audience.

Creating your character
Character creation will happen during the session 0 or between games if new characters are needed. I will also have a selection of premade characters available.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
An account with https://alchemyrpg.com/ is needed. Desktop app install optional but highly recommended (it's free). An account with Discord (as well as it's installation). The discord link will be provided once you sign up but it's mostly for between game discussions and an alternate voice chat option.
What Fraser MacDonald brings to the table
With the ease of integration of sound into Alchemy I will be trying to incorporate some kind of music or ambient sounds (or both) into every scene. Worry not about volume as you have independent volume controls. I tend to try to stick to Rules as Written for most activities but I am always open to discuss rules that just aren't working as expected and I'm not above tossing rules outright if they hinder the fun. With exploration I use gridded maps extensively but for Daggerheart combat I avoid grids as I find it can get in the way. The nature of the campaign frame is that as the party finds the echo of Aurelia (soul echo's) they will also level up when they take possession of a new soul echo. I am also a huge fan of Daggerheart environments and try to incorporate them as often as possible. In Journey to Horizon I plan to do this by having various environments for the various biomes that the players will explore. In some rare cases you may have to compete with multiple environments at a time.
Homebrew rules
Depending on the circumstances I may use content from multiple campaign frames such as Colossi from the Colossus of the drylands for massive monsters and some of the corruption mechanics from Witherwild.
