About the adventure

Deep Dungeon is a West March style campaign that exists within a fantasy world with little to no magic left on the surface. An artifact discovered in an unimportant region has opened up a portal to a magical dungeon, within anything is possible. This setting allows players to have multiple characters they may use in different sessions. The artifact has asked those who discovered it to find volunteers to hunt down the dungeon boss. In exchange it says that there will be magic and treasure within. The dungeon can be run by multiple mixed parties at the same time (in game) where the choices and successes of other parties may effect your experience within. The Deep Dungeon is a Pathfinder 1E mythic game of my creation. Players will have lots of opportunity to develop multiple character types and use them in various combinations. Within expect all of the classic role playing monsters, plus some custom foes. There will be traps and puzzles and lots of combat. If you can't make a session, no problem. If you have a friend who wants to join for a short period, they are welcome. Come explore this dungeon crawl and enjoy all the fun it has to offer.

About me

I have been playing dungeons and dragons since 1996. I ran my first games in 1999 and really developed my style as a dungeon master while running the Dungeons and Dragons club at my university from 2005-2009. Since then I have continued to run games with my friends, locally and online. My longest running campaign went for 4 years; however, just over two years ago I started an online campaign with my college buddies and the end is not yet in sight. I have run games in AD&D, D&D 3.5E, Pathfinder(1E), Star Wars, GURPS, d20 Modern and D&D 5E. In depth, character driven, custom campaigns are my favorite, but I am happy to play anything from a one-shot (not always completed in one session) and published adventures to themed works and deep dive custom campaigns. I have been developing two settings in which I would love to let multiple adventuring groups play in the same setting, affecting each others lore and the dynamics of the world around them. I am an adult who works as a ski instructor and is constantly interacting with clients. I enjoy getting to know people and tailoring my interactions to my clients. I am also an adult with autism and adhd. I have learned good tools for manageing my time and achieving goals. I am reliably on time for most things I do. I easily hyperfocus on roleplaying settings and spend significant time imagining the many possibilities for my role playing games, and then the players and dice enter and I create unimagined experiences on the fly.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be created with gritty rules. Each player will create three first level characters, rolling in the original style of 3d6 straight down the line. Then you will choose your race and class to fit the ability scores you ended up with. Each time you play the character you played will level up, but the next time you play will be with a different character. Magic users will have restricted magic until they attain their first mythic tier upon defeating a major or harder boss. Characters will have two development tracks, class level and mythic tiers, per Pathfinder 1E mythic system. Players who join late will create their characters at the lowest level any party member has.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Download Discord and Fantasy Grounds and have accounts. Links to discord server will be provided at least 24 hours before your first scheduled session. Fantasy Grounds is logged into by searching my user name, SkiDavid. Please do not log into fantasy grounds while I am running campaigns you are not a part of. Out of session times to visit the FG server can be scheduled. Players should be minimally familiar with Pathfinder 1E.

What David brings to the table

There will be intense combats. There will be traps and issues with lighting and sight. There will be classic monsters, tailored to the level of the active party. In general I will try to adhere to RAW, but occasionally, especially when described with great flair RoC will apply. Some custom house rules apply to this setting, they will all be available on the discord server.

Homebrew rules

TBD. Limited starting magic. Limited multiclassing.

Safety

How David creates a safe table

There will be a session 0 for all first level parties who play this setting. During which we will discuss Lines and Veils. Every session I run will have an intermission and a debrief period. Players will each have a private channel with the GM to let me know if I am steering the game towards any triggers. I am availble via discord pm for aftercare as needed.
