About the adventure
The winter-cursed lands of Icewind Dale are beset by unnatural threats and sinister conspiracies. Duergar slavers lurk in the shadows, otherworldly beings whisper from the darkness, and even the dalefolk’s own desperation causes them to turn on one another. You all were hired hands on a caravan heading into Icewind Dale, but things quickly went awry. The caravan was torn apart, its people lost, and now you must fend for yourselves in the frigid tundra. Unfortunately for you, the cold may turn out to be the least of your worries. This is a heavily customized Rime of the Frostmaiden campaign going from 3rd to 15th level, and potentially up to 20th level! - Explore and survive in Icewind Dale, uncovering the tundra's mysteries. - Consider what your character is hiding. Personal secrets and hidden motives will play a major role in the campaign. - Expect mechanically deep combat that rewards strategy and creativity. - Your choices will shape the story and determin the fate of the people trapped in the Dale.

About me
Greetings, you can call me Salt! I'm 21 years old, and an engineering student. I have ADHD and autism, which mostly work together to make sure I spend hours focusing on D&D. I enjoy making music and drawing, and I'm constantly trying to improve in both. Running games is one of my great passions. I've been GMing for about 8 years now. I got my start in middle school, right before covid, just running some goofy dungeon crawls for my best friends. Since then, I have run several home games and online campaigns. A few, I'm proud of, but many were lessons learned, stepping stones that I gave me the experience and wisdom I needed to grow as a GM and as a person. In those years, I've met so many wonderful people and lifelong friends, and I'm excited to keep that going.

Creating your character
My general character creation rules are as follows: - Stats: Each player will roll an array of stats (4d6 drop lowest), then we will vote on an array for every player to use, in order to keep things balanced between party members. - Starting Level: 3rd level - Races: Any standard Forgotten Realms races are allowed. Best fits for Icewind Dale are your standard PHB races alongside goliath and goblinoids, though I am willing to be flexible on this. I also allow Tasha's rules on flexible ability score increases for races - Classes/Subclasses: All are allowed. I am also willing to work on a homebrew subclass if none of the available subclasses work for you. - Bonus Starting Feat. Characters will be made before session one. Backstories will be important, so be sure to have something I can use in mind when pitching your character. I won't police where you build your character, so long as I have a way to look at it when I need. If you want an online sheet that just works, I recommend dicecloud!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
At minimum, you should have a discord account, as well as a owlbear rodeo account. Aside from that, just a way to keep track of your character!
What TheSaltRobot brings to the table
I use ambient music, battlemaps, and enjoy running dynamic, in-depth combats. I do voices, but I am certainly not a voice actor. Generally, I stick to the rules and try to keep things fair between players. However, I am keen to change rules if they get in the way of fun. I like to reward creativity and am fairly open to players suggesting things. I also like to reward tactical thinking and planning ahead. My sessions are generally split between using discord for voice chat, music, and posting important details, and owlbear for battlemaps as well as the occasional handouts. I also use google docs for things like keeping track of notes, quests, loot, and other details.
Homebrew rules
For a more in depth look at all of my house rules, I have them in this google doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/19CcNqHbmpj8TVTZ_62mDor9rfR0Nb-SavG47uRds9J4/edit?usp=sharing I use Session Rerolls, Flanking (+2 to your roll), Perkins Crits, etc. These are all to create a more dynamic and interesting game.

Safety
How TheSaltRobot creates a safe table
While this is a darker campaign with the potential for disturbing or unsettling things to occur, my primary concern is player safety. Comfort isn't a one and done thing, and if something I or another player is doing makes a player uncomfortable, I would like to address it as soon as possible. Session 0, I will go over my expectations for my players, then hear out their expectations for me. I will go over possible content, as well as the general pitch for the game. After each session, I like to ask players things they liked, disliked, and anything that they would like to see more/less of. As a general rule, I will not engage with any sexual content, nor will I use gratuitous violence and maiming for shock value. My horror is quiet, unsettling, but should ultimately be to the fun of my players. If someone needs to use an X, N, or O card, they can always DM me during session if they are uncomfortable saying it out loud, or can be vocal about their desires. I will not judge, nor will I ignore any requests.
