About the adventure
In this campaign, you won't be playing as well-respected pilots of a large faction like the Union, nor the up and coming prodigies taking up the mantle of a Lancer. No, you've gone through the wringer, and currently you are aboard one of the many spaceships that are built to transport prisoners across solar systems. You are being transported towards a Prison known as Maxim Prison. This is due to 3 possible reasons. First, you are heading their for death row/execution. Second, your previous prison was now incapable of containing you due to personal or wartime reasons, Third, perhaps you are fresh to the cold hard metal cages of HA's prison system. Either way, you're onboard now, you see all sorts of faces in a prison system like this, all these dangerous and conniving people stuck on this giant floating hunk of metal, something's bound to happen. But even if you were to escape, there's nothing for light years, won't really be hard to track down the singular escapee. Maybe... that's why you shouldn't do it alone. The first act of death brigade takes place on a prison transport cruiser for Harrison Armory, you will start as a LL1 pilot, with the knowledge and knowhow to pilot, but not quite the tools to do so. The large story beats will mostly be about a possible jailbreak or some other scenario you all figure out to get free.

About me
My favorite games to GM are CAIN and LANCER, In a sense they are polar opposites in terms of Game systems but in my eyes they both stand as phenomenal emotion driven story-telling engines. I'm a relatively newer DM compared to the others on this site, but I bring a fresh pair of eyeballs on the hobby and am more than happy to have beginners come and join the table, judgement free. I stand hold only 1 rule, "Get more engaged in your party member's stories than even your own." That to me has always been the key to having a fun time as a group and fulfilling your wildest supernatural or mechanical fantasies. I'm also an artist on the side, so feel free to ask me for commissions and such, my games typically already come with me drawing a portrait for your pc or what not when you start making your character. Also been looking into mythic bastionland lately, might run that sooner or later...... keep ya eyes peeled.
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
We will go over character creation in session zero: Two things mainly -Who you are playing, why are they serving time? how serious was the crime? -What mech are you playing (This is more meta knowledge since narratively it is most likely your first mech will be stolen given the circumstances)
What to expect
Preparing for the session
In order of priority: -Joining the discord and chatting -Learn Comp/con and know how to navigate it. (For personal client-side character building/testing.) -*Vague*(emphasis on vague since you still need to go over it with me) idea of your character, what their crime was? -Foundry (I will help you set up)
What Grit brings to the table
I primarily like GMing with narrative plot hooks that tie into your character backgrounds, which are one of the many things only an original campaign can really deliver on. That is the major reason why I wanted to start this campaign in the first place. Though I do embrace the Rule of Cool, Lancer is often a game that requires the GM to stand firm on some rulings but in most cases on fringe things where the book doesn't clarify (it doesn't clarify a lot of the times *wink* *wink*). I'll let the players do the cool thing. As an additional note, this game is gonna be ran in a very anime style, meaning enemy units might be able to taunt and talk to you mid combat even if it might not logically make sense for them to be able to do so.
Homebrew rules
Only homebrew rules: 1. No voluntary fall damage. 2. Semi-Permanent character death (cloning is illegal and often flawed, so even if your character was cloned they might have an entirely different personality or a visible defect etc.)
