About the adventure
Ravenwood, West Virginia is an ordinary modern town surrounded by wooded hills, old roads, small churches, family businesses, and generations of people who have known each other their entire lives. Then the fog comes. Roads begin leading somewhere they shouldn’t, familiar landmarks change overnight, people disappear, and Ravenwood slowly realizes that the entire town is being pulled into the nightmare realm of Ravenloft. This is a human-only horror campaign about ordinary people facing something far beyond them. You are not legendary heroes arriving to save a cursed land—you are residents, travelers, first responders, teachers, mechanics, hunters, parents, and neighbors trying to understand what is happening while keeping the people around you alive. As Ravenwood slips deeper into Ravenloft, the town itself becomes part of the horror. Old grudges, local legends, buried crimes, and forgotten places begin taking on supernatural weight, while the mists isolate the community from the outside world. Survival will depend just as much on trust, investigation, and difficult decisions as it does on fighting monsters. The question is no longer simply whether you can escape Ravenloft. It is whether Ravenwood will still be Ravenwood when you do.

About me
I’m GM Kam 🎲 I’ve been playing tabletop RPGs for over 12 years and have spent the last 8 years behind the screen creating worlds, telling stories, and running unforgettable adventures. I specialize in cinematic, story-driven D&D and Cyberpunk RED campaigns where your choices matter and the world reacts to what you do. I love political intrigue, immersive roleplay, memorable NPCs, meaningful combat, and long-term storytelling. Most of my games take place in original settings I’ve spent years building. New players are always welcome. Show up, get invested, and let’s tell an incredible story together. ⚔️

Creating your character
Characters will be human only and built specifically for the modern-day setting of Ravenwood, West Virginia. Rather than starting as wandering fantasy adventurers, your character should feel like someone who could actually belong in the town—a deputy, nurse, mechanic, teacher, hunter, bartender, college student, preacher, local troublemaker, business owner, or even an outsider who happened to be in Ravenwood when the mist arrived. We’ll build characters together before the campaign so that their backgrounds, relationships, and reasons for caring about Ravenwood are tied directly into the story. Traditional D&D classes are still available, but we’ll reflavor abilities where necessary to fit the setting; supernatural talents can represent strange gifts, occult knowledge, religious conviction, unexplained abilities, or powers beginning to awaken as Ravenwood slips deeper into Ravenloft.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
a Discord account for voice chat and campaign communication, and a D&D Beyond account for character creation and managing your sheet. Any additional maps, handouts, or virtual tabletop links will be provided before play. You do not need to purchase any books or know Ravenloft lore ahead of time. Come with a basic idea for a modern-day human character from Ravenwood, West Virginia, and we’ll handle the rest together during character creation.
What GM Kam brings to the table
I’ll provide a fully prepared, story-driven horror experience with custom maps, atmospheric handouts, NPC artwork, setting lore, and encounters built specifically for Ravenwood. I’ll handle the virtual tabletop, campaign organization through Discord, character support through D&D Beyond, and all of the behind-the-scenes preparation needed to keep the game moving smoothly. My GMing style focuses heavily on roleplay, atmosphere, meaningful choices, and player-driven consequences. I’ll guide newer players through the rules when needed, give every character opportunities to matter to the story, and build Ravenwood around your decisions rather than forcing you down a single path. Expect recurring NPCs, mysteries, evolving relationships, custom horror scenes, and a town that changes depending on what the group does—or fails to do.
Homebrew rules
Ravenwood uses a small set of homebrew rules to make combat feel more dangerous, cinematic, and horror-focused without slowing the game down. * Critical Hits: A natural 20 doubles all damage dealt by the attack for that turn. * Natural 1s: Rolling a natural 1 on an attack can provoke opportunity attacks from enemies within 10 feet. This works both ways—enemies are subject to the same rule. * No Dice Manipulation on 1s or 20s: Once a natural 1 or natural 20 is rolled, it stands. Abilities that normally replace, reroll, or manipulate the result cannot change it. * Going Down Has Consequences: If you are reduced to 0 HP and later regain consciousness through healing, you gain 1 level of Exhaustion. Dropping repeatedly becomes increasingly dangerous. * 2024 Crafting Rules: We use the updated 2024 crafting system, allowing characters to create useful equipment, tools, consumables, and other resources when they have the time and materials.

How GM Kam creates a safe table
Ravenwood is a horror campaign, so we’ll establish clear boundaries before play. We’ll use Lines and Veils, a typed X-Card, and an open-door policy so anyone can pause, skip, fade out, or step away from a scene at any time without needing to justify it. I’ll also check in during especially intense scenes and adjust the tone immediately if something stops being fun. The goal is to create fear, tension, and difficult choices in the story while keeping the table respectful, collaborative, and comfortable for everyone.
