About the adventure
The lovely Frugelhofen Valley and the snow capped Frugelhorn Mountain with its glacier have rested undisturbed for a long long time. The monks at La Maisontaal would like it surveyed and are paying cash. You and three companions have decided to apply for the job, it might just be the last job you ever apply for! Choose three characters you like from eight presented and place them in descending order of preference. The party will consist of the four most popular characters. Wherever possible I will endeavour to provide you with your 1st choice to play, you will have a few choices to make to get the character adventure-ready but this will not take long. Then settle in for some mountaineering, a nice visit to a lovely old monastery filled with monks devoted to Taal, the God of Wild Places then off up the valley to earn your coin. Exercise, fresh air, wages, what could possibly go wrong! Adventure designed for starting characters and players to enjoy their first Warhammer experience. GM happy to ease you into the hobby. The campaign follows a fairly rigid plot and timeline in the game so sit back and enjoy exploring the Frugelhorn Valley and all that it’s quiet mountain slopes have to offer. The adventure begins with a nice slow burn and accelerates to desperate panic before a final climactic confrontation with one of Warhammer’s most ancient characters of dark legend!

About me
While still at school I discovered a game called Heroquest, back in the 90’s. This was a gateway game and I quickly followed it down the rabbit hole to Games Workshop and Warhammer, where I started to collect and paint Dwarf models, I had just finished reading The Hobbit and was feeling the Dwarf inspiration. That was back in the Warhammer Fantasy Battle 3rd edition days and I have pretty much played it ever since. After leaving school I discovered Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay and picked up all the material I could for it and began my GMing for my friends. After running many successful games and campaigns for decades, throughout various editions of the game I thought I would see if there was an opportunity for me to run even more games by putting myself out there to the wider community. I have introduced many many new people to the hobby, some new to Warhammer, some new to the whole idea of gaming and TTRPG’s. I am very happy running a game for totally inexperienced players as much as I am experienced ones. I just love stories, movies, tv series, books, music, anecdotes from friends, I love a ripping yarn, and I think being a GM is a wonderful way to create a story in which you cannot guarantee the outcome, and so the story is enhanced by the players helping tell it in the way they want to, it becomes an interactive story.

Creating your character
The characters can be sent out prior to the first session with clear notes from me recommending a few choices be made. All you have to do is look through the 8 characters presented and pick the three you’d like to play the most. Rank them 1-3, 1 being the character you would most like to play. Then let me know what your 3 choices are. Once all choices are made I’ll be able to work on giving as many players as I can their 1st choice, failing that 2nd choice will be confirmed. With this confirmation will be the finishing touches required to make the character ready to start. Then we can begin play right away with me coaching you through the game mechanics as you begin to explore and get a feel for the setting.
A random selection of pre generated characters for you to choose from, there are 8 optional cast members.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will require an active account on Discord. You will need to be able to type, talk and view documents/images on it, I will use dice bots within the Discord channel to allow you to roll for tests. Obviously a link to the server will be sent in advance of the first session to make sure you can connect all ok. You might want to have a method of note taking, blank character sheets will be sent available to grab from the discord server or you can create your own if you prefer. The character information will be saved and pinned within the chat but it will be the starting state of the characters only. Individual and party goals can be determined before paid play begins.
What Steve brings to the table
I will attempt character voices for various non player characters you will encounter. Will be mostly trying to stick to rules as written but advantage will be capped at each characters individual Agility Bonus. We will use the Fast Success Levels method when they are needed. Combat is resolved by opposed tests, so even if you ‘miss’ your opponent, if they ‘miss’ by more you will still hit them and cause damage. Starting characters in WFRP fail a lot of rolls, don’t be disheartened, they are not experienced yet and failing in style is part of the charm. Experience points will be awarded every session based on entertaining roleplay. Milestones in game will award more.

How Steve creates a safe table
Session zero will be about preparing the players and the characters for actual play. Also as this will be over discord I will expect each player to be in a safe space in their own home with full access to facilities, drinks for hydration and any medicines they require. Players will be provided a copy of the Monte Cooke check list.
