About the adventure

>>We anticipate starting on 10/8<< WELCOME TO THAY! Your Ultimate Getaway Destination! 🏰 Breathtaking obsidian spires that are definitely not trapped. 🧟 A dedicated, sleepless workforce of local undead who never complain. 🌋 A warm, glowing climate of volcanic ash perfect for avoiding direct sunlight. In the shadows of the dread realm of Thay, a different kind of war is being waged. "Operation: Deadfall" is a high-stakes, fast-paced espionage campaign where your party acts as elite covert operatives. Your mission: infiltrate the heavily fortified Thaymount, home of the Red Wizard lich Szass Tam, and stop him before he completes a cataclysmic ritual. If he succeeds, his undead minions will permanently bind the entire region to his will, extinguishing the last flickers of resistance. Time is running out as you navigate a web of betrayal, magical surveillance, and Red Wizard patrols. You'll need to gather intelligence, find ancient artifacts, and forge uneasy alliances with local dissidents—all while maintaining your cover in one of the most hostile environments in Faerûn. Whether you're scaling the obsidian walls of Thaymount or decoding encrypted puzzles, every second counts in this race against the ultimate undeath. **This is a high level campaign. Players should be familiar with the basic rules of D&D 5e or 5.5e. Operation: Deadfall is a fast-paced adventure on a high-stakes timer, and players should be ready for such a pace.** 😎 Vibe Check We are a new party of good and neutral characters coming together, so much of the vibe will be determined by players in the opening session. In order to maintain party cohesion, no evil characters will be accepted. The Delphi Experience: 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️♾️ A safe community and gaming space to be the hero you want, judgment-free 🪶 A full-time experienced GM with more than 1100 games hosted 🎨 Highly customizable characters 🧑‍🎤 Multidimensional NPCs 🌌 Theater of the Mind 🎻 Dynamic scoring

About me

I've been playing various forms of role-playing games formally for more than 2 decades, including online, written, table top, and more, while informally, I've been playing and performing roles all my life. I love creating and sharing stories, all the more so when the players truly become part of the world by surprising me with their choices. Professionally, I have a background in history and am a recovering former educator. I bring both to the gaming table by helping players learn the game with a teach-as-we-go method while developing unique and non-standard worlds and stories .

Character creation

Creating your character

Players will work together to create level 11 characters as a party during session 0. Previously used characters may be an option, however, players should be prepared to make alterations to fit the party and campaign theme. You will have an opportunity to consider options prior to the session, however this campaign requires a certain amount of team cohesion and preparation that the session 0 will provide. Though Thay has a reputation of evil, some of which is well founded, for the purposes of team cohesion, evil-aligned characters will not be accepted at any point in this campaign. Players should expect to lean into the story and their teammates throughout the adventure. Players will be able to use official D&D 5.5e core and expanded rules, found in the following books: - Player's Handbook (2024) - Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerûn - Eberron: Forge of the Artificer - Ravenloft: The Horror Within - Arcana Unleashed Additionally, players will be provided with recommendations for this magical spy thriller, including options to play as a Red Wizard, Thayan Knight or other characters from Thay and beyond.

What Delphi brings to the table

I will bring everything else, including a great story and amazing setting for our adventure! Be ready for a great time.

Homebrew rules

🍺 Crunchy Crits - Always get maximum base damage for a critical hit plus a single die roll (starts at level 3) 🍺 Agency while downed - If downed, players may crawl up to 5 feet (if not restrained), call out to allies, and roleplay 🍺 5/10 Diagonal Movement - The first diagonal move on a square grid is 5 feet, the second is 10 🍺 Dazed not Stunned - Instead of being stunned, which is never fun, a creature is now Dazed, which allows them to use 1 of a movement, action, or bonus action on their turn. 🍺 15 ft. to Stand - Standing up should be the same no matter how fast you are. It's 15 ft. of movement to stand from Prone, up to a maximum of half movement speed. Additionally, we may use custom mechanics for certain NPCs, monsters, and scenes.
