About the adventure
Venture beneath Waterdeep into Undermountain, a sprawling dungeon filled with deadly monsters, forgotten treasures, strange factions, and secrets buried for centuries. This is a classic dungeon crawl focused on exploration, combat, discovery, and the constant question of whether you should push deeper... or turn back while you still can. This is a challenging game with survival elements. Resources matter, injuries can linger, and Long Rests are only possible in secure, designated safe areas. Every expedition carries risks, and careless decisions can have lasting consequences. If you enjoy tense exploration, dangerous encounters, clever problem-solving, and earning every victory, Undermountain is waiting. The game is designed for players who want a more dangerous and grounded dungeon-crawling experience. You don't need to be an expert in D&D, but you'll need to work together, think creatively, and be prepared for the dungeon to fight back. Session 0 & 1 will be free, so that you can try without worry. About me
Greetings adventurer, welcome to my profile. I’m Greg, though many know me as DM Fantom. Living at UTC+1 timezone and since 2020, I’ve been guiding parties through thrilling quests across West Marches servers and running classic pen-and-paper campaigns at the table. I have a passion for tactical combat, but what I enjoy most is seeing players surprise me with clever, outside-the-box solutions. If you’re looking for a game that’s lighthearted and fun, yet brimming with danger and excitement, then you’re in the right place. Are you ready to roll the dice and embark on your next great adventure?

Creating your character
Make a level 5 character ( 2014 rules) using the link for the D&D Beyond website. This adventure is difficult, so mechanically strong builds are encouraged since you're going to need all the help you can get. Anything that is published under the umbrella of official material by D&D but does not qualify as partner material is fair game. That is, you can use whatever is on the D&D Beyond site as long as it does not come from a third party or partner. Remember that you are going to be exploring, fighting, and problem-solving. A balanced party will have an easier time of surviving what lies beneath Waterdeep.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You need to have a functioning computer and accounts on Discord and a D&DBeyond account prior to session 0. Prior to session 1, you need to have your character ready. If you need help creating a character, I am more than happy to assist you during session 0.
What Greg brings to the table
With 100+ games run on StartPlaying, my goal is to provide a polished, immersive, and well-organized experience from the moment you enter the dungeon. We’ll play using Foundry VTT, with dynamic lighting, automated mechanics, immersive effects, and high-quality battlemaps from professional third-party creators. The virtual tabletop is set up to handle the bookkeeping where possible, letting us spend more time exploring, making decisions, and playing the game. Expect tactical and challenging combat, meaningful exploration, and a dungeon that rewards preparation and creative thinking. I aim to run the rules consistently while still embracing the Rule of Cool when it makes sense. If something is unclear, we'll make a ruling and keep the adventure moving rather than getting stuck debating the rules. My priority is creating a game that feels dangerous, immersive, and fair. Your choices matter, victories are earned, and I'm here to make sure everyone at the table gets a chance to shine.

Safety
How Greg creates a safe table
Comfort and safety for the players is essential to me. There will be a Session 0 before we begin our campaign so that we may set expectations and make sure that all participants feel safe with the themes of the game. The X-Card will be used while playing, which means that any participant can raise an issue of discomfort instantly. We will take a break, move on to a different scene, or anything else required to ensure that the table remains comfortable. I also advocate for open dialogue and aftercare sessions afterward, especially after emotionally taxing encounters. My aim is to create a game where the dungeon is brutal and unforgiving, but players never feel threatened or uncomfortable at the table.
