Creating your character

For character creation the only species unavailable to you are Aasimar. Backgrounds will be limited to the ones provided within a pdf that I will share with you. Because of this restriction each player will also receive a feat of the choice. The classes are all open but are limited to the 5.5e/2024 classes. Artificer, Bloodhunter are included in this, and I am working on adding a Tinkerer class from a 3rd party publisher. Starting equipment you will be choosing the gear and weaponry. Because of this we will be rolling to determine the amount of gold you have at the start of the campaign. This campaing also only uses gold as its currency and thus costs for items have been adjusted to fit the single currency. For ability scores we will screen share them as you roll. Each player will get to roll 3 groups and pick one group of the three. However, if all 3 groups do not compare to the other players then we will roll an additional set to make sure stats are suitable if the player chooses to do so. Health will also be rolled differently. Depending on the class you choose the die will go up by 1. (Example: Barbarians d12 = d20) Stats can be increased by 1 if the players take legitimate flaws and stats are able to go above 20. Preparing for the session

We will be using discord for voice calls in a server I create for the campaign. DndBeyond will be where characters are created and where maps will be played on.

What Martin brings to the table

I am learning to implement ambient music into the campaign with very few voices. I do however inform the players who is speaking to avoid as much confusion as possible. There will be plenty of times Rule of Cool with take place but there may be times I veto it to avoid heavy rewrites, otherwise Rule of Cool will be priority as fun is the point of playing. For combat most monsters will have rolls to determine who will be targeted and for how long but the players are able to mess with this as well however they choose to. However monsters with higher intelligence and humanoids will likely be tactical in achieving their goals. I do encourage players to roleplay with eachother as well but if you are not an initiator when it comes to rp then I will do my best to have npc's help start the conversation.

Homebrew rules

Health potions can be used as an action or bonus action. If you use an action no roll is done and you receive max from the potion; however a bonus action will constitute a roll. Other potions such as a Potion of Speed will also require a bonus action at least. For any who have experience with the Monster Hunter Games I have implemented a system for learning more and more about them as you level up your research. The more it levels up th emore you will learn when facing the monster in the future maxing out at knowing the creatures complete stat block. There is also a system for breaking parts on monsters and even riding monsters similar to the games. There are two types of spellcasting. One uses magic such as Wizards, the other is Bioenergy used by Druids and the like. However, you are free to choose one of the two options when it comes to spellcasting. These two options are also known to combat each other resulting in negative and possibly injuring those attempting to intertwine them together. I will not keep you from trying though, so feel free to test the waters as much as you please! Maybe you'll find the harmony between the two.

How Martin creates a safe table

For safety and comfortability I ask that each of my players message me or if they feel comfortable enough to interrupt me if I or another player is making them uncomfortable or another player uncomfortable. I cannot read minds or hints unfortunately so please communicate it to me so I can ensure everyone is comfortable and having fun. No point in playing this game if one or more people are uncomfortable. As for aftercare I will usually hang around for a bit after sessions conclude asking for feedback and for moments that stuck with the players. No one is required to stay. Feel free to stay in call or send me a message to speak privately if you need help dealing with events that occurred in session. Your comfortability is important to me. We will have two session 0's. One will be with the players to discuss what everyone wants to play class wise and see if any of the players wish to have some cohesion or background specific events with other players. The second session 0 will be held as solo sessions for each player and will introduce them to the dangers of this world and how the players are introduced to each other and partied up. Webcams are not required but if you choose to use yours I will not be against it and will join you in using mine as well.
