About the adventure

In this game, you will be able to: - Help build the very school you wish to attend, placing portal-connected campuses anywhere on the planet. - Customize a caster, from the creature who cares for them to the conduit from which they cast. - Sling spells of any assortment, circumscribed only by math rocks and our collective creativity. - Create and carry out an arcane curriculum consisting of custom classes of all kinds.

About me

I’m CIS, white, male, neurodivergent, pansexual-panromantic and the type of person who respects it if you need to know those things about me before we play. I gotchu. I’ve been running games for about 15 years now, I spend so much time on it that I can’t justify it financially, anymore, without charging. Over time I’ve gotten very improvisational, preferring to leap right into session zero and let the character discussion fuel my plans. I prefer play by post, and I like my familiar systems, but I’m charging for this, I’m aware of my limits and capabilities, and I’m very particular, so you can expect the utmost effort at making this experience right for you; Any system you want I can learn. This is my safe space, and I aim to share that safety with everyone involved; Lines and veils will be anonymous and unchallenged. Prejudice and abuse will not be tolerated, repeat offenders and their icky money will be kicked out and not invited back.

Character creation

Creating your character

We’ll be making characters by the core rulebook, but only mechanically. Fictionally, this is a world of actual magic, and I’m going to let you stretch your wings accordingly. If you’ve never used this system, take your experience here with a grain of salt; Not every GM is going to let you choose talking dragons and fairy spellcasters as your familiar, or let you cast with a crystalline orb instead of a wand, or let you fly on a cloud or a skateboard instead of a broom. (For instance.) So use that imagination!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Make a Discord account if you don’t have one. You will need a microphone/phone. Join the Discord link. Optionally, read the book, which is available in the Discord server! Otherwise, we’ll be teaching our new players together.

What Jeremy brings to the table

An organized Discord server, a dice rolling bot, and nearly two decades of experience running games much crunchier than this one!

Homebrew rules

The book doesn’t exactly say which dice give you a “lucky break,” so in this game the answer will be all of them, stat dice or magic dice. Rolled a nat 20? Why, roll again, friendo. We can mix around the rules regarding underclassmen, upperclassmen and faculty; How much money do you have? What skills are you “Mastered in..”? How old are you? That doesn’t need to be dependent on grade. Adults go to school, kids skip grades, faculty attend classes, it’s not that weird. What the hell does “the spell you’re turning into a potion has to make sense” actually mean in the context of reality-shattering magicka? I don’t know either! Mechanically, a potion is just a portable spell with a delayed casting. Make “a potion that you throw on the ground to send a telepathic message to someone” and see if I pitch a fit.

Safety

How Jeremy creates a safe table

Lines and Veils will be discussed at the earliest possible convenience. I don’t strive for a game with mature content, but I don’t shy away from it either; The content warnings aren’t guaranteed, or even likely, they’re just the boundaries I’m setting up.
