About the adventure

Grab your spelljamming helm and chart a course through the glittering Wildspace of the D&D multiverse! In this Light of Xaryxis campaign (with generous helpings of classic AD&D 2e/3e Spelljammer lore and hand-picked worlds from across the editions), you'll captain or crew a living ship through crystal spheres, phlogiston rivers, and the deadly beauty of the Astral Sea. From the Radiant Triangle's familiar spheres to exotic lost realms and fan-favorite settings, the cosmos is yours to explore, plunder, and defend. The theme is high-seas space opera with classic D&D heart: swashbuckling naval battles against mind flayers and scro, first contact with bizarre alien cultures, ancient mysteries of the Juna and the gods, desperate alliances, and the looming threat of Xaryxis itself. Expect wonder and danger in equal measure — asteroid cities, living ships, rainbow gas giants, elven armadas, and the raw terror of a dying sun. We'll honor 5.5e rules while drawing deeply from Spelljammer canon across editions for rich, consistent lore (homebrew used sparingly and clearly marked). I'm a caring, organized DM who loves collaborative storytelling, tactical space combat, and helping everyone shine. Sessions will be well-prepared with landscape vistas of alien worlds, clear maps, and tracking of your ship's upgrades, crew, and growing legend. Perfect for players who crave epic exploration, memorable characters, and the thrill of sailing between the stars. New to Spelljammer? No problem! I'll be your enthusiastic guide. Veterans of the spheres? Bring your favorite ship concepts and favorite lore! Whether you're a bold captain, a curious mage, a grizzled giff marine, or a mysterious hadozee deckhand, the stars await. Join the crew, hoist the sails, and let's make your legend echo across the Flow!

About me

Greetings fellow Adventurers! My name is Milo and I have been a GM for quite a while now. I can't even count the amount of time I spent on Dungeons and Dragons, ShadowRun, Cyberpunk Red! I wanted to start hosting games because I wanted to provide people the opportunity to play the game at an affordable price. I do not think games should cost an arm and a leg to participate. My goal is to set up games where it could match the price of a premium cup of coffee per week. What makes me different from most GMs you would find on Startplaying is the low price while maintaining the same level of quality (If not higher) than what you would find in most games. I do a variety of character voices. These range from the old wizard who is teaching the wonders of evocation magic, to the hulking barbarian warlord, and to the cute little plasmoid with a backpack on a spelljammer ship. Creating and immersing my players in a world is what I hope to accomplish. As much as I like to brag about how I excel at Excel (Badum tss), I am an adept at FoundryVTT. I love making modules for GMs to use in their games and I can honestly say that I can teach even the most Boomer individual how to navigate it. For most of my games, you will find that I like to do a 30% combat and 70% roleplaying ratio (depending on the campaign setting). If you are looking for a GM who loves crazy ideas, player focused stories and immersion then welcome! "TTRPGs for me, is not a story I put you through but one that we all come together to create. This is OUR story." - Milo (Yes, I quoted myself... I know it's cringe.)

Character creation

Creating your character

To create 5th-level characters for this adventure, players can use the character creation steps outlined in the Player’s Handbook. In addition to more hit points, class features, and spells, each character has normal starting equipment plus 625 gp to spend on additional nonmagical gear. Since we are running a high magic campaign, each character also gains one uncommon magic item of the player’s choice, subject to DM approval. Character Creation will be done through DnD Beyond and we will use the 2024 rules with a few rules from 2014. Players will be given a session zero where they will be given instructions on how to create their character. For players coming in after sessions 0 and 1 they will need to schedule a time with me to having a private session 0 where I will explain the character creation process.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You are going to need Discord, Forge Account (Which is where I host the Foundry VTT), a Microphone, Good Internet connection, etc.

What Milo Income brings to the table

I bring: Character Voices: (Old masculine/feminine, what ever Matthew McConaughey is doing LOL, Elmo, Mickey Mouse, A voice that I think sounds like Stitch, That good old Antonio Banderas Hispanic accent or maybe a J'zargo from Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim) Point is, I want characters to feel different. I try, I might fail, but we gon' do et anyways! Music from TableTopRPGMusic.com Soniss for Sound effects. I am all for rule of cool.

Homebrew rules

Homebrew Rules will be discussed in Session 0 as some of the rules need to be explained. I only have a set of 3000 characters to work with. No Evil Characters I Know a Guy System Thematic Progression Adjacent Flanking Resistance to Non-magical Slashing, Piercing and Bludgeoning is Removed. Milestone XP Daylight Spell is Sunlight No Good Berry. Secret Death Saves (Only you and the DM Know) Critical Skill Checks You are not that Dumb (An 8 in a mental stat doesn't mean you are dumb. Unless you want to be dumb) Frequent Faller - When you are pushed over the edge (cliff or the like), you don't immediately die or take damage. Instead you and everyone else in the party can use their reactions to save someone from falling provided they have the right tools, spells and/or equipment to do so. Sometimes ability checks are needed.

Safety

How Milo Income creates a safe table

There is a code of conduct portion that ever single one of my players will go through at their session 0. I will read it out to them during session 0; so that there is no excuse for misconduct. An open door policy coupled with a Stop Bullying Reward Program will help ensure everyone is safe and comfortable.
