About the adventure

I bring you Kurokk - The Unwavering Place A homebrew world, with a custom pantheon and an open world for you to explore. Discover the lush green druidic forests of Himmelo, to the religious sanctuaries of Blhavmann and Rolgun to the criminal tinkerers and outlaws of Brisbenet. We begin your story within Havenfell, the floating capital of the continent. Home to nobles, priests, criminals and soldiers- all previously led by five council members. But when a dragon attack left a member missing, one member deceased and two injured- the harmonious Hiram Mervor- Master of the Quill stepped in and seized the opportunity to unite everyone under something new- A king. Within the Mørksmug (Shadow District) of Havenfell, whispers have begun of a rumor regarding The Master of the Mistsplit, one of the five members of The Council of Kurokk who had gone missing... What are these rumors and are they true? Regardless or not, it's up to you to investigate, exploit or make worse. Your choices will have an impact on this world. The allies you make, the enemies you create, political uprisings, war and entirely new stories to behold. I want to be able to work with you to bring a character you've always wanted to play to life, giving them the story they deserve Whether or not you have decades of experience with TTRPG's to never having thought or touched one, together we can bring your story to life Almost three years ago I came to a group of friends who were all actors and we decided to do a one-shot. One player had knowledge of D&D 3.5e from prior games played, another had run Cyberpunk many years prior and the rest were completely new. At the end of the one-shot I heard "We want more" and we have been playing since.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character discussion: IF you have something you already want to bring to the table, awesome! I encourage you to be ready to talk about cohesion with other players so you, I and the other players can collaborate together during play sessions Session 0: Before we begin our campaign, we will be reviewing our characters, backstories as well as any plot hooks and character connections you'd like to explore Character creation and campaigns will be happening in D&DBeyond where you will have full access to all of my sourcebooks to be able to use You will create a level 3 character within D&DBeyond before getting a private invite to the campaign!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Audio Setup: Have a working microphone; webcams are optional. Rules: Never read the rules? That's okay! We can go over main basics during session 0, and will meet you part-way regarding these rules during sessions. I'd rather you start playing before you worry about the rules Character Creation: Create a level 3 character within D&DBeyond Discord: Must have a discord account and be willing to use a private server for our sessions Maps: I have both foundry and D&DBeyond for maps, we will have a discussion on which we will use for simplicity in session 0

What TrontGM brings to the table

Voiceover Actor: I've worked as a voiceover actor and with this my NPC's have distinct personalities and voices for you to interact with, making them easy to recognize remember. Your backstory: It matters to me. What you bring to the table will not be throw away or changed, it will be adapted and brought into the game to fit the story we try and tell. A living homebrew world: I've been running this world for multiple groups in person at this point, and their choices have had an impact on this world as will yours. Each city, religion and culture has their own way of life for you to interact with. Ambient playlists: I will be using KenkuFM to provide background music and ambience noises during our sessions Instructor background: I've previously taught University students for half a decade and love teaching this game to new players. In terms of the rules, come into this with whatever YOU want to do and I'll help you figure out how we can do that. Sourcebooks: Any sourcebooks I have on D&DBeyond will be shared with you to create a character when you are invited to the campaign Rule of Cool & Comedy: Ridiculous plans and comedy is encouraged at my table. Let's roll for it. I'll tell you how the world reacts.

Homebrew rules

1. Ritual Revival - Matt Mercer's Rules (Critical Role) Death is something that means something in this world, if you are being brought back from crossing the other side, your companions must participate in a ritual to bring you or someone back from the brink and this impacts the DC (Difficulty class) of bringing you back (If more context is needed for these, Mercer's Ritual rules are what I use) 2. Humans automatically pass of natural causes at the age of 94 (This is a custom homebrew regarding lore in my world) so if you're wanting to play an older human just keep this in mind! 3. Rule of cool and comedy I absolutely love pushing this game to it's absolute limits. If it's cool, awesome, funny or lore-eccentric I absolutely will allow something to succeed flawlessly or fail miserably 4. Healing Potions -Using a healing potion as an action provides full healing -Using a healing potion as an action to give to another player provides full healing -Using a healing potion as a bonus action you must roll for the healing 5. We will be using flanking rules (If you're not aware of what this is, that is okay, will provide context in session 0) OPTIONAL - Will be discussed in session 0 Desperate Measures - I loved this brand new ruleset designed by Brennan Lee Mulligan- essentially it let's you do things/actions when you are below half health or have the "Bloodied" condition by marking a certain number of your "Death Saving Throws". It can give that narrative moment in a fight a lot more "umph". More details will be revealed in session 0.

Safety

How TrontGM creates a safe table

Aftercare: You do not have to stay, but afterwards I and anybody who would like to stick around and chat and decompress after the session, we can do this together Breaks: I usually run my sessions for about 3-4 hours, and will be providing a break about halfway through the session for about 10-20 minutes to decompress Debriefing: If needed, after the session or following a couple days after the session we can collaborate and chat on the things that work well and the bumps we can smooth out together Open Door: You can if needed and without being judged may stop listening or leave without being judged for your own well being if needed or if there is anything you need to discuss with me a private conversation is absolutely possible Session 0: For a proper cohesion and expectations of myself and you, we will be having a session zero regarding rules, safety tools and resources I will provide for you and what to bring to the table for session 1
