About the adventure
The "New" land has been discovered, the Black Prince of Luscan found it when blown off course in a storm. Some 3 weeks travel by strong ship, the "New" land offers bounty and rewards beyond measure. The natives value iron and steel over gold which is plentiful there, gems litter the beaches free for the taking, The natives are warm welcoming and very friendly with skin the colour of the desert sand. It is likely wild beasts and monsters never seen before exist further in land for those trophy hunters brave enough to venture in. The Dream Dancer is in dock posting planning to set sail for the "new" land at high tide two days hence, births aboard are expensive but there is some room to haggle and negotiate or perhaps work your passage, Priests going to convert the heathens, Warriors seeking glory or to map uncharted land, Bards in search of new stories, and the less savoury needing a fresh start away form the eyes of the militia and wanted posters with their picture, The "New" land has something for everyone, so make your pitch to Captain McKenzie on why you deserve one of the coveted places on board.

About me
AS FEATURED ON CNN https://edition.cnn.com/videos/entertainment/2023/04/14/hollywood-entertainment-solo-dungeons--dragons-roleplaying-game-startplaying.cnn I started playing DnD in 1977 when elf and dwarf were classes, not races. 45 years as a play 44 as a DM More years live action role play than i care to admit Five years dark age re enactment 789AD to 1066AD saxon viking and norman steel weapon combat and living history displays I do not use a VTT. Instead I live stream a video of a physical tabletop with tokens instead. Whilst I do use some theatre of the mind there is a table top for the more tacticle groups. Since the various lockdowns playing face to face became difficult so I came here. I favour RP-heavy games with dynamic combat. In other words, unless the AC is really obscure and the goblin has a 20 dex I tend to tell my players the AC, after all when you see a 14 miss and a 15 hit the cat is out of the bag. By knowing the AC you know if you hit or miss and can describe what happens rather than I roll 15 you hit roll damage 6 points ok next person, you roll you know you hit you say I slash the goblin across the face for 6 points. Happy to DM groups from their first game to very advanced. I will be running a mix of new modules and some old classics with a little homebrew thrown in for good measure LBGTQ+ Friendly
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
characters will be made using the point buy system, they may be made before session zero or can be made during session zero. I can provide pre-generated characters. I am open to most builds, you will be leaving from Neverwinter so would need to be able to move around there.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players must have a mic, am webcam is preferred but not compulsory. Players need dice or a way of electronically rolling dice and will need a character sheet.
What Darren brings to the table
decades of Dming experience, NPC character voices for main NPCs, a challenging campaign exploring things from very limited resources to building up. I anticipate 12 to 14 sessions reaching level 10. Using the xp system including xp for role playing, and puzzle solving
Homebrew rules
I am open to most homebrew subject to approval. 1 on a d20 is a fumble something bad will happen Advantage and Disadvantage cancel each other out on a one-to-one basis: If you have more of one than another (1 ADV and 2 DIS, 3 ADV and 1 DIS, etc.), then the one you have more of applies. Regardless, you still only roll one extra D20. AC is Revealed during combat: Enemies' Armor Classes will be told to players at the start of combat so you know if you hit or miss, allowing for deeper roleplay and more expressive descriptions. Passives are Not Used: Passive Perception, Investigation and Insight are not used as they are broken mechanics that serve as a detriment to the roleplay potential of any given scenario. PC to PC violence Player Character on Player Character violence is rare and actively discouraged. However, if a player manages to earn the ire of another and that results in a duel or similar hostile actions taken between their characters, all players involved are required to use D&D Beyond's digital dice using Public Rolls so that all rolls are fair and equal and can be monitored by the DM. As always, this and other contrary-type behavior is permitted only and solely at the DM's discretion. Tread lightly! I use perfect crits, so instead of roilling twice the dice the second set of dice rolled are treated as maximum, this applies to monsters and players alike I don't use a virtual tabletop, but instead live stream a physical battle board with tokens so no extra downloads or interfaces to learn. I take things back to how DnD used to be played in gaming clubs cafes and pubs sat around a table. However this is more than theater of the mind as we do have a battleboard for the more tactical combats. I allow physical dice outside of PVP

How Darren creates a safe table
Session zero will discuss hard and soft limits and the expectations of players for each other, will pvp be allowed, secrets, stealing from each other ? These and other issues will be sorted out during session zero. The game is set as family friendly, so whilst there will be threat to characters survival, there are no over riding horror / gore themes. The campaign will include combats at times so there will be some violence.
