About the adventure

For centuries the Arcane Brotherhood and the Red Wizards of Thay have a secret war for knowledge, influence, and control of magic. Now something has changed... Archmagi across Faerûn are disappearing. Their disappearance has triggered magical anomalies throughout the Sword Coast, leaving entire regions struggling to control the Weave. Both factions blame the other and open war is becoming inevitable. Someone is manipulating the conflict from the shadows...your party is going to find out who. You'll investigate the missing archmagi, navigate faction politics, uncover forbidden magic, and decide what happens when the world's most powerful spell casters go to war. 🎵 A SOUNDTRACK BUILT FOR YOUR STORY Your adventure has its own soundtrack. Sessions feature curated music and original compositions created specifically for the campaign with themes that evolve alongside your characters and the story. ⚔️ CINEMATIC COMBAT Experience tactical encounters with evolving battlefields, environmental threats, and consequences beyond the initiative order. Your actions will shape the battlefield itself and could turn the tide for or against your party. 🕵️ INVESTIGATION & MYSTERY Follow clues, interrogate suspects, uncover secrets, and piece together a conspiracy that spans into the foundations of magic itself. 🏛️ FACTION POLITICS Neither faction is entirely innocent in this conflict. Alliances shift, motives conflict, and your choices determine who earns your trust. 🧬 CHARACTER DRIVEN STORYTELLING Your backstory becomes part of the world. The relationships and alliances you build, the enemies you create, and the choices you make will shape the world, creating personal stakes that evolve throughout the campaign. This campaign will start at Level 1 and progress to Level 20! IN SESSION ONE... The campaign begins with the disappearance of a powerful archmage and your party's first task is to investigate. You'll create your characters together, establish your place in Faerûn, and immediately be thrown into a mystery that sets the campaign in motion. This campaign is for you if... 🧙 You love high-magic fantasy and Forgotten Realms lore 🕵️ You enjoy mysteries where the answer is hidden amongst lore ⚔️ You want tactical combat that challenges you 🎭 You enjoy roleplay and developing relationships with NPCs 🧩 You want your character's backstory to matter 🎬 You want a cinematic campaign with music, atmosphere, and dramatic set pieces This table is for players of all skill levels! new to D&D? Pre-generated characters are available, and I'll help you build a character if you'd rather create your own.

About me

Hello there Traveller! My name is Jeremiah - "Faebylst" - a story first, rules solid Game Master with 10+ years experience telling tales of gallant heroism, fantastical worlds, daring adventures, and of battle forged fellowship. I specialize in immersive long-form campaigns that blend emotional role play, living worlds, character agency with meaningful consequences, and cinematic boss encounters. I strive to incorporate tactical combat with unique boss mechanics and give space and freedom for vulnerable role play. I am an avid Critical Role fan and the story telling there was fundamental in my early experiences in TTRPG; however, I pull inspiration from a variety of sources including Lord of the Rings, the Sword of Truth series, and other story tellers. I also seek inspiration from True Crime, Mystery novels, music, historical accounts, folklore, and legends. Stories have been told for millennia for a variety of reasons and are filled with purpose. Pulling inspiration from these helps compel action and narrative and pulls players into a world they breathe life into. In my stories you will find magic and wonder, adventure and thrilling combat, intrigue and moral dilemmas, and decisions that will shape the world we play in. If that sounds like you, I hope to see you at the table!

Character creation

Creating your character

We will have a 1 on 1 before the table meets during Session 0. This campaign will be a levels 1 to 20 campaign so when creating your character, please only make a level 1 character. Please come with character concepts before hand so we can have a productive session together! If you need help rolling stats, coming up with a concept, or even would like to use a pre-generated character, let me know and we can work through that during our meeting. Character Creation Stats Roll 5d6 and drop the lowest two rolls, then allocate these to your stats. If your total points are lower than 85, then you may reroll. Please keep track of your rolls so we can discuss in our 1 on 1’s. Available Materials: You have access to all the Species, Classes, Backgrounds, and Feat features in: Player’s Handbook (2024), Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faeûn, Eberron: Forge of the Artificer (excluding content that is Eberron setting exclusive such as Aberrant Dragonmarks and Backgrounds tied to the Houses), Astarion’s Book of Hungers, and Arcana Unleashed (2026). For Hit points: At level 1 take the maximum hit die result. For future levels, you can either take the average roll for your class OR roll and take the result. We do reroll 1’s and 2’s. If you roll a 2 a second time, it’s fate and it stays. Equipment: You can start with the Standard Starting Equipment for your class OR the maximum gold amount for your class, which you can spend at your discretion to outfit your character. If you have questions about item prices, please consult the DM. Discovering Your Character: The ability scores and features on your character sheet are just the beginnings of your Character. Your character is a real person in a fantasy setting and not just the numbers you see on the page. While building a narrative for your backstory is compelling and helpful to future role play opportunities, it is important to know who the character is before you step to the table. Here are some guiding questions to help you craft and discover your character: What are your character’s defining personality traits? What are their flaws? What are their ideals and what drives them forward? What do they fear and desire most? How does their past shape them? Describe your character without mentioning their job, class, or physical features. What do people notice?

The current party

As you build your character, consider using a magic class or subclass of some sort. That way we can make as many lore/quest connections as possible!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

All players will need a microphone, a Roll20 account, a DnDBeyond account, and a Discord account. All accounts are free and I'll provide any digital resource you need to play. I highly recommend downloading the Discord application as it will be a smoother experience than the web browser. Once you have joined the campaign, I will send out links to a Discord server where all future updates will appear as well as a link to the campaign link on Roll20 and DnDBeyond.

Homebrew rules

Critical Hits: Max damage for the attack, then the critical hit damage is rolled. Ex. A longsword hit is 1d8. The character in question has a +3 Str. mod and a +2 PB, so its normal bonus would be +5. That equation would come out to be: 8 + 1d8 (critical/damage die) + 5 (standard bonus). If you have any subsequent damage types such as smite, sneak attack, etc., you would follow the same equation for those dice as well. Death Saving Throws: These occur privately and are shared with the DM via message. Help Action: Using the Help action to aid a fellow player with a skill check to provide advantage on the roll requires you to also have proficiency in the skill. Health Potions: You may take health potions as a Bonus Action or as an Action. If you take it as a Bonus Action, you must roll the dice for healing. If you take a potion as a full Action, you instead take the maximum possible amount of healing. Pack Tactics: We do not use flanking at this table; however, if an enemy is surrounded on three or more sides by player characters, you may roll at advantage for your attack rolls.

Safety

How DM Faebylst creates a safe table

There will be a survey for Lines and Veils sent out before our Session 0 to identify any hard limits (deal breakers) and soft limits (may need to step away, take a break, or fade to black) for content present. These are confidential and will only be shared with the DM. I've identified several things that may occur throughout the module but may not necessarily appear in gameplay; however, I want to be upfront with anything that may cause discomfort and will eliminate anything that will cause unease at the table. We will have built in breaks for our sessions and a mandatory Session 0 before any gameplay to cover ground rules, DM assigned limits based on feedback, house rules, and any other pertinent information before we begin gameplay. In addition, players have the option to message me directly in real time an X, N, or O card to address any rising concerns during play.
