About the adventure
🚂 It does, as these things do, start on a train. The Ghostlight Express travels from the lands of the living to the lands of the dead. Perhaps you've just died, and this is your first time in the beyond. Perhaps you've lived in Druskenvald and have been reborn. Either way, this isn't the afterlife you expected. 🏚️ Welcome to Wickermoor Hollow.🌛 🌜 The world of Druskenvald is a dark afterlife, a setting filled with restless undead, monsters that hunt the primeval forest, and ancient beings that wrestle for power in the suffocating mists beyond. 👻 You get to play a dead/reborn character in a gothic folk-horror afterlife, and the setting gives you unusual character-building toys with which to do it. Build someone who belongs in this world. Crooked Moon brings 13 new species, 15 subclasses, 12 feats, new spells, and new backgrounds—all built for 2024 D&D. 🎦 For the vibe: Van Helsing, Nosferatu, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and Jonah Hex, with a healthy dose of Penny Dreadful. 📔 Literary touchstones include Frankenstein, Grimm's Fairy Tales, and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Brought to us by the wonderful minds of Avantris Entertainment, you can tell right away the love and care they put into every page of this adventure. It is a delight to run, and I can't wait to see you there.

About me
Hey! I’m Wyrd—pronounced “weird.” The Old English word *wyrd* describes fate not as something fixed, but as a living force shaped by actions and choices. That’s also how I run games: the world responds to what your characters do. Your decisions matter, your victories leave marks, and sometimes one impulsive choice sends the entire story somewhere none of us expected. After more than 1,100 sessions as a professional GM, I can honestly say that I love this job. My tables have become a community of funny, creative, genuinely wonderful people, with plenty of room for newcomers. You can join every conversation, quietly enjoy the game, or find your own comfortable place somewhere in between. I’ve played D&D since I was a little geek in a small town in upstate New York. These days I’m a much larger geek living in Colorado. I’ve tried countless roleplaying systems along the way, but I keep coming home to D&D. Here’s what you can expect at my table: 🦸 **A GM who roots for you.** I’m probably your character’s biggest fan. I’m not here to defeat the party; I’m here to challenge you and celebrate what happens next. If clever planning, teamwork, or ridiculous luck demolishes an encounter, I’ll be cheering with you. 🌄 **Memorable worlds and characters.** Even when running a published adventure, I customize maps, encounters, and NPC interactions so the world feels responsive and personal to your group. ☔ **A welcoming place to play.** My tables include people of many genders, orientations, backgrounds, ages, experiences, and neurotypes. Respect for one another is nonnegotiable, but nobody has to perform or explain their identity to belong here. 🆕 **Patient support for new players.** You don’t need to arrive knowing every rule. I’ll help you learn at your own pace, and my established players are consistently wonderful about welcoming new people. 🗨️ **A community beyond the session.** Each campaign has its own Discord space where players can talk, share jokes, keep journals, and stay connected between games—as much or as little as they like. 📖 **Clear and consistent expectations.** My house rules and optional rules are documented, discussed, and applied consistently. You’ll know where you stand with me—but I’m always willing to hear a creative pitch. Toss that Cheeto on a hook and see if I bite. I provide access to an extensive collection of D&D resources through D&D Beyond and Roll20, and I regularly reinvest in new books and materials for my players. If you want collaborative storytelling, meaningful choices, lively roleplay, exciting combat, and a GM who wants your character to be amazing, pull up a chair. It’s nice to meet you.

Creating your character
Create your characters ahead of time, all the books will be available to you! 2024 rules (if there's a 2024 version, we'll use that, otherwise 2014 is acceptable) We'll be going from level 1 to 14. Point buy/standard array, fixed HP. Crooked Moon has a lot of very cool species and subclasses to enjoy!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You should have a discord account, and will be joining a game server. We'll be playing on Foundry for all the bells and whistles.
What Wyrd brings to the table
I use Foundry for the best experience. We'll bring Wickermoor Hollow to life in Foundry with maps, music, ambience, character voices, and all the wonderfully unsettling atmosphere the setting deserves. We're going for dark, but that doesn't mean there isn't place for humor.
Homebrew rules
My only 'homebrew' rule is that critical misses only happen when rolling at disadvantage, but that counts for all rolls, not just combat.

How Wyrd creates a safe table
Rather than fill up the screen with Content Warnings, I will instead be going over Lines and Veils during session 0. I run a safe space, even when in such a dark world.
