About the adventure
Set in a quiet halfling fishing village nestled along the misty Gulf of Halfland, Twisted Kelp is a dark coastal adventure where the sea is never still and the past never truly dies. Strange omens plague the town - sleepless nights, vanishing villagers, and thick, relentless fog. As trusted outsiders or returning locals, your party will delve into old folklore, investigate unsettling events, and confront the cost of secrets kept too long. This game blends rich narrative storytelling with immersive roleplay and tactical combat. You’ll face moral decisions that ripple beyond your character sheet, forge bonds with a community on the edge, and explore storm-lashed ruins and forgotten places where reality frays. If you enjoy: Slow-burn mysteries with atmospheric settings Interwoven character arcs and morally complex choices Exploration of lost places steeped in old magic Tactical combat with meaningful stakes …then this is the game for you. New and experienced players welcome - just bring a willingness to roleplay, investigate, and occasionally get salt in your boots. This quest takes inspiration from games like Call of Cthulhu, and atmospheric horror. It integrates character backgrounds and goals into the writing to allow for personalized experiences. About me
Hi, I’m Benjamin Sturge - a lifelong tabletop gaming enthusiast and passionate Dungeon Master. I’ve been playing Dungeons & Dragons since I was 12, and for much of that time I’ve been behind the DM screen, crafting worlds, guiding stories, and helping players of all ages and experience levels find their place at the table. I love sharing this hobby because D&D is more than just a game - it’s a chance to unleash your imagination, develop teamwork and social skills, and be part of a creative, like-minded community. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of running games for a diverse range of players, including those with ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, and other neurodivergences. My goal is always to make every table welcoming, inclusive, and fun. Outside of the gaming world, I hold a B.Sc. in Statistics and Economics and an M.A. in Economics from Memorial University. My professional background includes work with universities, non-profits, private businesses, and government. I also have experience as a tutor, which has honed my ability to teach, encourage, and adapt to different learning styles - skills I bring to every session I run. Whether you’re brand new to D&D or a seasoned adventurer, I’m here to help you create unforgettable stories together.

Creating your character
On Character Creation Edition: 5.5 Edition DnD (2024) Starting Level: This depends on where the campaign is at story-wise when the player joins. Usable Material: Anything published by Wizards is fair game. No unearthed arcana. Homebrew is permissible but must be reviewed by me first. Starting Stats: Standard point buy or Standard Array. World: My world, called Anima. Gods: Your choice, but I mainly use Greyhawk and Forgotten Realms gods. Time Period: Standard medieval DnD. Some early firearms exist. Progression: Experience Points. Races: No flying races (dragonborn are still ok) Logistics: Roll20 for gameplay (maps and tokens), Discord for voice and video, DnDBeyond for character creation (optional) Alignment: No restrictions, but don't play a murder hobo edge lord. Starting Wealth: By species, class, and background. If creating a character higher than first level, add 75gp per level. In other words, if you are creating a third-level character, add 225gp to your starting gold. If creating a character 3rd level of higher, add two potions of healing (common) to your inventory. If creating a character fifth level or higher, add a +1 weapon or +1 armour or a pearl of power (your choice), and a potion of healing (greater) to your character. If creating a character of 10th level or higher, add two uncommon magic items of your choice.
This section will include players who are carrying over their characters from a pervious campaign. A tiefling rogue, and a elf bard. We will be starting at level six.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players should create a Discord, Roll20 and DnDBeyond account. Once a player signs up, I will send them the important links.
What Benjamin Sturge brings to the table
When you sit at my table, you’re not just playing Dungeons & Dragons - you’re stepping into a living, breathing world crafted around your character’s choices, ideals, and backstory. I specialize in weaving deeply immersive narratives where your character’s journey matters. With hundreds of pages of original homebrew content and years of storytelling experience, I create campaigns full of rich lore, meaningful roleplay, and challenging tactical combat. My players often describe my worlds as “vivid” and “alive,” where every NPC feels real, every decision carries weight, and no two adventures are ever the same. My style balances storytelling and strategy. You’ll find yourself navigating heartfelt social interactions one session, then facing intense, tactics-heavy combat the next - all supported by detailed maps, tokens, and visual aids on Roll20 and D&D Beyond. Whether you’re a quiet roleplayer, a combat optimizer, or a new player finding your footing, I make sure everyone at the table feels included and has a chance to shine. As a Dungeon Master, I thrive on collaboration. I encourage creativity, reward clever thinking, and adjust to player choices - even if they take the story in wild, unexpected directions. My goal is to help you bring your character’s dreams, flaws, and ambitions to life in a campaign you’ll remember long after the final session. With over a decade of DMing for players young and old, neurodivergent and neurotypical alike, I bring patience, passion, and a welcoming atmosphere to every game. Whether you’re stepping into D&D for the first time or returning after years away, you’ll find a space at my table to explore, grow, and tell unforgettable stories together.
