About the adventure

A dreadful attack on your town is about to propel you into a fight against a global conspiracy, one forged by secretive cultists and wicked slavers. Beware, for not all is as it seems in your home, and you will need all your resources, your allies, and your wits to overcome what lies ahead. 🏰Uncover ancient magic beneath your very own castle 🗺️See the world and help its peoples 🔥Prevent a fiery apocalypse from destroying everything you love 🐲Defy a wicked dragon god - or die in the attempt! Take on the challenge of Pathfinder 2e’s first Adventure Path! A level 1-20 adventure that showcases the Inner Sea setting in all its diversity, in Age of Ashes you create an iconic tale of perseverance against the forces of evil. Will you be triumphant against the wrath of the new apocalypse? ✨All my games are safe spaces, and any form of bigotry will not be tolerated. ✨New to all this? Don't worry! I love helping people find their new favourite roleplaying game ❤️ ✨I am happy to assist with character creation if needed. I pride myself on my friendly attitude, and I will craft a welcoming space for you to be yourself and have a good time. I am full of enthusiasm for your adventures and have a deep knowledge of the Pathfinder 2e system and setting - but I won't hesitate to shift things about to make the game truly personalised to you and your group. Join today and let's have a fun time together 😸

About me

Hello! I am Jay (they/he) and I would be delighted to run a game for you. I've been running multiple games a week since January 2021; I haven't run out of enthusiasm yet and I don't intend to! 👶 Born 1995 🏳️‍⚧️ Openly genderfluid 🧑‍🎓 Spanish and Creative Writing graduate 🧶 Fibrecraft fan 🎼 Accepting music recommendations Apart from the games you see on this page, I can be available in the European morning/afternoon. Should you have a system you'd love to play but haven't found a GM for, send me a message and I'll see what I can do. ¿Quieres que yo sea narrador de una campaña en español para tí? He narrado partidas en castellano, entonces ¡mándame un mensaje! No soy fluido en español, sino en los juegos de rol 😁

Character creation

Creating your character

Please check out the Player's Guide for information on appropriate characters (download link): https://downloads.paizo.com/AgeOfAshes_PlayersGuide.pdf I encourage you to bring a character idea or two to our first meeting, where we can discuss which one will best fit the story. Your chosen level one character needs to be input into Foundry VTT by the end of our Session 0 (I will help with this!). You are welcome to use Pathbuilder to design your character. Players who join later will make characters at the same level as the rest of the party, after a voice chat with me. Rare and uncommon character aspects may be used with justification. We will use the standard 'Boosts & Flaws' method of stat generation (listed here: https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=2027&NoRedirect=1). Don't know what any of this is? Don't worry, as I will provide all the guidance and resources you need ✨

The current party

The party are in the process of exploring a ruined citadel. Dare you join them? Any questions? Message me! I am on European time.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a microphone and a computer with a web browser, such as Google Chrome. You will also need accounts with Discord and the Forge (free level is fine). I will send you links to all of these. Not sure if your computer can handle Foundry? Try the demo here in your browser: https://foundryvtt.com/demo I am happy to use video, but you are not obliged to. If you do wish to use video, you will need some kind of webcam. You don't need to know the rules in advance. However, I encourage you to think of one or more fantasy character concepts in advance of our first meeting - if you can't think of one I can provide a pre-made character in the meantime.

What Jay brings to the table

My games are all about fun! This adventure features both combat and roleplay, and I highly encourage you to do things the group finds cool. My tables are always inclusive. My game-mastering style is easy-going and narrative-focused. I want us to be able to tell a cool and dramatic story! I will provide Foundry virtual tabletop with music, maps, and virtual dice. Pre-made characters will be available should you want one. I will also provide lots of enthusiasm! We will be using my Discord server with private channels for the game. Regarding rule adherence, I generally stick to the rules in combat but allow cool things that are not game-breaking. Outside of combat things flow a bit more freely, and I love creative solutions! I am open to adjusting or sticking to the story as the party prefers - I have run this adventure before, so I know how to adjust it.

Homebrew rules

I am open to using variant rules if the group is interested in them, such as Free Archetype. We will discuss whether we will use variant rules during our first meeting.

Safety

How Jay creates a safe table

Our first meeting will be a session 0. We will discuss safety tools, session length and campaign expectations, and complete any character set-up that needs doing. We will also discuss whether we want to use any variant rules, and if we have time we will run a 'non-canon' test combat. Safety tools: all lines and veils (ie things you don't want detailed in the game) should be sent to me, and I will anonymise them and ensure the group is aware of where not to tread. We will also have an anonymous X-card button available, and the N- and O-cards can be typed into chat or my DMs at any point. The content warnings include the most significant 'warning-worthy' topics in the campaign. If there are other content warnings you need to know about, please let me know and we can discuss how to make you most comfortable. I am also happy to work with players to remove triggering content from the plot, as your fun and comfort is what's most important. Regarding the listed content warnings: the slavery is not based on race or ethnicity, and the slavers are villains. There will be the opportunity to free enslaved people.
