About the adventure

🌴 Tomb of Annihilation Expanded 🌴 I’ve spent a good long while preparing an expanded version of Tomb of Annihilation. This is not simply a race through the jungle toward the final dungeon. Chult is a living open world for a campaign filled with rival factions, lost civilizations, dangerous expeditions, political intrigue, dinosaurs, undead, and mysteries buried beneath centuries of ruin. If you want a long-term campaign where roleplay matters and your decisions determine who survives, who rules, and what becomes of Chult, this is it. 💀 Story Details 💀 Something is interfering with death itself. Across Faerûn, random powerful people who were once returned to life are beginning to wither away. Legendary heroes are dying, and no temple or spellcaster could explain why, except when the Sage of Shadowdale did his own investigating. Elminster has found that what links each of these heroes is their time spent in the same region. Chult, a vast tropical land of untamed jungles, ancient ruins, undead hordes, and forgotten kingdoms. Yet, in the process of his investigations, the death curse has afflicted Elminster himself, rendering him forced to take a transient form to try and delay it. Open Lord Laeral Silverhand is now thrusted with the responsibility to save her old mentor, gathering forth young spirited adventurers to send to Chult. With so many experienced heroes having died before, it falls upon the new generation. ☠️ The Death Curse and Player Characters ☠️ This campaign uses a modified version of the Death Curse designed to preserve the stakes of the story without forcing the party to rush past most of Chult. From the beginning, the curse affects powerful NPCs—legendary adventurers, influential figures, and others whose souls are strong enough to attract its attention. Their conditions will worsen as the campaign continues, and some may die if the source is not destroyed. However, the Death Curse will likely not affect player characters until the party enters the campaign’s final dungeon. By that point, the characters will have become powerful enough—and drawn close enough to the source—for the curse to recognize their souls. This means you can properly explore Chult without an artificial countdown punishing you for pursuing side quests. Once you enter the final dungeon, however, the rules change. Death becomes far more permanent, as you go beyond the point of no return. 🗺️ Full-Immersion Battlemaps 🗺️ Every major location has been prepared with a battlemap or visual scene. That includes taverns, temples, markets, jungle camps, ancient shrines, forgotten settlements, ruined cities, monster lairs, and the deadly chambers waiting beneath Chult. A location having a battlemap does not mean it is expected to become a fight. These maps allow you to explore naturally, interact with the environment, position your characters, and better understand the places around you without relying entirely upon theatre of the mind.

Creating your character

📘 2024 Ruleset We’ll be using the updated 2024 D&D rules for a fresh and balanced experience. If a subclass, spell, or race doesn’t have a 2024 version yet, feel free to use the 2014 one instead. 🎲 Stat Generation You’ll roll two stat arrays using the !randchar command twice on our Discord server, you can reroll arrays of 70 or lower. If luck isn’t on your side, 31 Point Buy is available as a safety net.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will be required to have microphones, Roll20 accounts, and Discord to participate. Discord can be downloaded for a smoother experience compared to the browser version. Character concepts are great for preparation. We'll work together to get the details translated into a D&D character prior to session. Here is the invite link, if it doesn't work just message me on this site and I'll get you in. Discord: https://discord.gg/BVM4BvfnNY

Combat is fast-paced, strategic, and meaningful—your choices matter, and your spotlight time is respected. Homebrew rules

🗡️ Heroic Death 🗡️ Death isn't the end—at least not right away. When a character is about to die, they’re granted a selection of final choices to choose from, offering a heroic sendoff or dramatic twist that honors their journey. 🎵 Bard Buffs 🎵 Bards get a little extra love: they retain Song of Rest from 2014.

It’s a simple way to stay connected and make sure everyone feels heard, supported, and excited for what’s next. ⏸️ Breaks & Refunds ⏸️ Sessions include short 5–10 minute breaks in the middle. If something unexpected forces a major delay or cancellation on my part (say, spontaneous food poisoning), I’ll issue a refund. Your time and experience matter.
