Ironclaw - The Grand Game
The factions of the island of Calabria have begun to make their moves. It is only a question of who uses the right pieces in their favor in this game.

About the adventure
Ironclaw is an RPG system that uses a dice pool and gift mechanic to build player characters in an anthropomorphic setting. Think Disney's Robin Hood meets Game of Thrones: a low-magic, medieval-style fantasy setting where it is a question of who you know and who wields power. Players will be tasked with a simple bounty at first, but then uncover a tangled web that threatens the very fabric of the island of Calabria as multiple factions vie for control of the decadent Rinaldi Throne. Will the players defend the Rinaldi, or will they lead the charge against them? Will they find someone whom they can trust amongst a large cast of nobles, peasants, and everything in between? Or will they uncover a darker conspiracy in Calabria? The Grand Game is a custom Ironclaw adventure that will use some of the starting adventures published as a backdrop for a greater, more political-style sandbox campaign. This will be a role-play-heavy campaign, but will also have multiple combat encounters and, depending on the choices of the party, determine the fate of Calabria in ways that may be unseen. The game uses the Sanguine dice pool system, and full explanations will be given to newer players who are interested in joining. This game is open for new players and veterans alike, and should be a good time!

Meet the Game Master
About me
Been a gamemaster since the late 2000's, playing a ton of indie games and mainstream games beforehand since 2nd Edition D&D. Most of my experience as a GM is from games like Dragon Age, Ironclaw, Myriad Song, Pathfinder 1E, D&D 3.5 and 4th Edition, and Forbidden Lands primarily. Looking to just have some fun for a few months with a new campaign and hoping to meet some new people.

Creating your character
Players can come in with created characters if they know the system, but I can also walk through it one-on-one with them or as a group if there is interest before the game begins. We can set up a session zero specifically for this.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will be using a combination of Discord and Roll20 for the game. Players will need a Roll20 account I can invite them to and a Discord account I can invite them to. You would also need a microphone for communication. The Discord server will be a basic setup: general and game chats, including an RP chat for those interested in inter-party roleplaying, and a Loot Bag for organizing any loot. Knowledge of the system will help, but I will provide information from the books and charts of equipment/characters/classes for character creation.
What Robert brings to the table
There will be ambient music through Roll20 for mood, and I will attempt a lot of bad accents that sound alike for character voices. Combat will follow rules as written for the base mechanics, but will allow some flexibility so long as they are within the boundaries or spirit of the rules. Combat is a part of the campaign, so expect several small or a few larger encounters throughout; however, there will be very few monster fights in this game. There will also be a lot of heavier role-playing, and several mechanics will depend on character builds and speaking with multiple figures.
Homebrew rules
None at this time.

How Robert creates a safe table
Session Zero is also about expectations, so for example, I'd ask players what they hope to get out of the campaign. As well, I'd do debriefings after each session to see how everyone is doing, if they are enjoying themselves, etc. All of this is to build rapport and trust, and to also open the floor for questions to go over anything missed or anything that may be an issue. Note that the game will have multiple content warnings attached, as all of the ones chosen have a chance of occurring in this campaign, either as a flavor to the world, or a practical expectation of it. The system emulates a medieval-style fantasy life, so there will be peasants and nobles, classism, blood, and other problems. I will shy away from extreme sexual content and violence.
