About the adventure
Up in the heavens, those born to rule sit removed from the churning wheels of strife. While mortals die and toil in the muck, the gods play at games of petty grudges and base desires. Every few generations, some dare to oppose the gods. To topple the old regime. To shake the ground and shatter the sky, and bring those up on their thrones down in the dirt with rest of us. You are an auspicious young adventurer. Something powerful has always surrounded you, but never fully understood. Shrouded by mystery, a portent to glory or ill omen, you are destined for great things. That comes with danger. Mortals, monsters, the divine and powers beyond know this, and they want it. To take it from you. To you use you. What will you do when burdened with power of destiny? Inspired by the Percy Jackson novels, the Hades video games, the myths that inspired them, and in particular the 1981 Clash of the Titans, this campaign is my take on a common fantasy trope of mortals ascending into godhood and the cycle of warring divines revolving in and out of the pantheon. But don't feel limited to just the ancient Greek for inspiration. Fans of other world mythologies, the Baldur's Gate video game series, Critical Role's Exandria, or the Simarillion feel free to beg, borrow, and steal from your favorite ideas and tropes. Bring what you want out of the game in, and we'll workshop it into something really fun for the whole table. Mechanically players should expect to be ... very strong. For mythic/epic level fantasy, players should be in my opinion. Accordingly this has a fair amount of homebrew in terms of the way I will run combat, and will require a session 0. Tonally this will lean slightly gritty, but not dark for dark's sake. Humor from campy to pulp action is absolutely essential in my opinion to keep the energy flowing for those emotionally heavier moments, and get them to really sing.

About me
GMing for over 10 years, I love exploring the wild and beautiful landscape of TTRPGS from across the spectrum of crunchy tactical games to rules-lite narratives. Players are the center of my games' worlds, and drive the action. A lifelong artist, DIYer, and spreadsheet nerd, I feel like there's always more juice to squeeze. I love borrowing tools from other systems and creators to get the most out of your hobby time and fulfill the fantasies bring to the table, and work together with players to create the stories they want to hear. Outside of TTRPG's, I'm kind of a freak about music. I like motorsports, old Westerns, historical fiction, mythology,

What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need a discord account, but Owlbear Rodeo is browser based and doesn't require one and can work on mobile devices, but for full maps I suspect you'll want a full sized screen.
What Moose brings to the table
Combat will have various tweaks mostly to speed it up, but will remain as "crunchy" and "tactical" 5e usually is. I personally lean a little more Rule of Cool than RAW, generally in favor of the players. You guys are the stars after all. I personally love having background music, but know it can be distracting or a sensory issue for some players (and I'm slightly picky about it myself). I'd love to work on doing more character voices, but sometimes struggle with consistency.
Homebrew rules
I'm running my way of 5e with a lot of additions from the "Plug-In" style of Index Card RPG. Mostly to speed up combat from my side and increase player visibility and help you guys make more meaningful decisions. Crits do max damage of the weapon (ie 2d6 = 12) no roll required. Potions roll as normal as a bonus action, but take the maximum value (2d4+2 = 10) as a standard action. Feeding another player is a full action (also taking the max and not rolling.)

How Moose creates a safe table
I'll set up a custom Lines and Veils that I'll send out to be completed before Session 0. Then at Session 0 I'll go over anonymous what is and isn't on the table based on peoples responses. X/N/O's can be dm'ed to me over discord at anytime, and I'll find a way to implement them into the VTT as well.
