About the adventure
College is supposed to be where you figure out who you are. Unfortunately, some students arrive already knowing exactly what they are: vampires, witches, ghosts, fae, werewolves, and worse. Most people never notice the monsters walking beside them through lecture halls and late-night parties. That’s how it survives. In this Monsterhearts campaign, you’ll play supernatural students navigating desire, reputation, and the dangerous social ecosystem of campus life. Relationships matter more than violence, rumors spread faster than truth, and every choice leaves emotional fallout. Classes create pressure. Parties create problems. Social media creates receipts. You’ll build messy characters, form dangerous connections, and watch small decisions spiral into life-altering consequences. Welcome to campus! Try not to ruin each other too quickly.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Old-taku of a thousand fandoms. Voice actor in my own head. Occasional cosplay gremlin. I run character-driven games with a mix of seat-of-pants consequences, humor, and emotional moments. I love strong personalities, messy decisions, and seeing what happens when players push the story in unexpected directions. My tables are talkative, a little chaotic, big on character moments and not always perfectly on the rails (on purpose). There will be jokes. There will be derailment. And sometimes, when it lands, there will be moments that hit harder than expected. 🎭 SO HOW DO I DM, ANYWAY? I like: NPCs with personality (and yes, I will act them out), Player choices actually mattering, letting the story grow from what the party does, not just what’s written. I’m also: Still growing as a DM, learning tools like Foundry as I go, Focused on making the game fun over making it perfect. 🤝 TABLE VIBE CHECK This is a collaborative, fun-first table. We balance silliness + story, chaos + consequence, and “ok, but hear me out” energy. I use safety tools and clear expectations so everyone feels comfortable jumping in. 🎯 YOU'LL FIT RIGHT IN IF YOU… • Enjoy character-driven play without needing it to be super serious all the time • Like a bit of chaos and table chatter • Are okay with a DM who’s learning and adapting • Want to tell a story together, not just play optimally If that sounds like your kind of table, welcome in!

Creating your character
Character creation happens together during Session 0. Monsterhearts works best when the characters are built as a group, so we’ll make them together and set up connections, tension, and shared history right from the start. You’ll choose a Skin; basically the kind of monster you are. Vampire, Witch, Ghost, Fae, Werewolf, and more. Each one comes with its own messy strengths, emotional problems, and bad decisions waiting to happen. During Session 0, we’ll: ❤️ Pick Skins ❤️ Assign stats ❤️ Set up Strings and existing relationships ❤️ Figure out rumors, reputation, and social dynamics ❤️ Talk about how your character fits into campus life You do not need prior Monsterhearts experience. I’ll walk everyone through it. All core Monsterhearts 2 playbooks are open, and I may allow extra playbooks if they fit the game. Since this is a college setting, your character should be a student dealing with both supernatural identity and the general disaster that is campus life.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Before we start, there are a few quick setup things: 1️⃣ JOIN THE DISCORD: This is where everything happens—RP, OOC chat, and the in-game “social media” feed. You don’t need to be online 24/7, but you should be checking in regularly since the story moves between sessions. 2️⃣ VOICE FOR LIVE SESSIONS: Live sessions happen in Discord voice chat. You’ll need a working mic and stable internet. 3️⃣ NEW PLAYERS WELCOME: No Monsterhearts experience needed. I’ll walk you through everything during Session 0. 🚫You DON’T need: to buy any books or have any prior experience. Just bring a character idea and be ready for messy supernatural drama.
What Kysa brings to the table
I run a structured, story-driven Monsterhearts game focused on relationships, emotional tension, and messy supernatural drama. 💖WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT: 🏫 A LIVING CAMPUS: The world reacts. NPCs remember. Rumors spread. Relationships shift based on what you do. 🔁 HYBRID PLAY (THIS IS IMPORTANT): The story continues during the week through Discord (RP + social feed). I post 2–3 times per week to move scenes forward, so players should check in regularly and post when they can. This is not constant back-and-forth RP; it moves in beats, not real time. If someone goes quiet without communication, the “camera” shifts. The story keeps moving, and your character may fade into the background until you return. 🎙️ OFFICE HOURS: Once a week, I’ll be available for a 2–3 hour block to push major scenes forward, run confrontations and handle high-drama moments in real time. 🎭 GUIDED SCENES: I help frame scenes, shift focus between characters, and keep things moving so no one gets stuck waiting forever. 🧠 PLAYER - DRIVEN STORY: Your choices, relationships, and bad decisions drive everything. I’m here to push the drama, not control the outcome. 💬 NEW PLAYER FRIENDLY: No experience needed! I’ll guide you through as we go. 🎭MY GM STYLE: I focus on strong NPC personalities, emotional tension and messy choices, consequences that actually stick, letting things spiral instead of fixing them. Monsterhearts is about desire, reputation, and bad decisions, not winning fights. 🚫 WHAT THIS GAME IS NOT: Not combat-focused, not a dungeon crawl, not a “perfect choices only” story. The drama comes from: relationships, secrets, social chaos, and supernatural pressure.
Homebrew rules
This game mostly sticks to the core rules of Monsterhearts 2. I’m not here to overhaul the system. I use it as-is and focus on building scenes that support drama, tension, and messy character choices. A few light tweaks help support the hybrid format: ⭐ LIMELIGHT(In-Game Social Feed) - We use a Discord “social media” feed where characters can post updates, photos, and messages between sessions. These can start rumors, shift reputation and create problems you didn’t mean to start. ⭐ ASYNCHRONOUS ROLEPLAY - Between sessions, you can jump into optional in-character scenes on Discord. These are great for building relationships, stirring drama and setting up future conflicts ⭐SCENE FRAMING & SPOTLIGHT - During live sessions, I’ll shift focus between characters and frame scenes so everyone gets time in the spotlight and things don’t stall out. Outside of that, everything runs straight Monsterhearts 2; same moves, same Skins, same rules.

How Kysa creates a safe table
Monsterhearts explores emotional tension, relationships, and complicated choices. Because of that, player comfort and consent are extremely important at the table. Before play begins, all players will review and complete a Lines & Veils document that outlines personal boundaries and topics players prefer to avoid or keep off-screen. DURING OUR SESSION ZERO, we will also discuss: 💔 Tone and expectations for the game 💔 Character themes and comfort levels 💔 How safety tools will be used during play 💔 The collaborative nature of Monsterhearts storytelling During sessions, the following tools will be available: ❤️🩹 X-CARD - Players can signal if content becomes uncomfortable and the scene will immediately pause and redirect without requiring explanation. ❤️🩹 OPEN DOOR POLICY - Players may step away from a scene or session at any time if needed. ❤️🩹 CHECK INS - If scenes become emotionally intense, I may pause briefly to check that everyone is comfortable continuing. ❤️🩹 DEBRIEF / AFTERCARE - At the end of sessions we take a few minutes to decompress, discuss highlights, and ensure everyone leaves the game feeling comfortable. Respect, communication, and consent are central to this table. The goal is to explore dramatic storytelling while making sure every player feels safe and supported.
