About the adventure

Welcome to Keys from the Golden Vault, a collection of thrilling adventures where you and your fellow operatives will take on impossible missions, uncover hidden secrets, and become the heroes behind some of the greatest heists in the realm. Whether you are a brand-new adventurer or a seasoned player, this game is designed to focus on teamwork, creativity, and storytelling as you work together to overcome challenges in unexpected ways. Your missions may take you anywhere from stealing priceless artifacts from a corrupt museum, to infiltrating an elemental prison, to uncovering secrets that powerful people would do anything to keep hidden. Each adventure presents a unique challenge where clever ideas, roleplaying, and bold decisions can be just as important as combat. There is no single “right” way to complete a mission—your choices will shape the story and determine how the operation unfolds. My style of play focuses on creating a cinematic, narrative-driven experience where your characters are more than just numbers on a sheet. I encourage players to describe their actions, add details to the world, and work together to bring the story to life. Whether you are picking up your first set of dice or returning for another adventure, you will have the opportunity to create memorable moments, take risks, and become the heroes of your own legendary heist.

About me

I've been a dungeon master of 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons since 2017. Professional Dungeon/Game Master in OKC since 2021 I love the story telling element of RPGs. There is nothing better than gathering around a table and making friends. Currently enjoying Daggerheart and 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will create characters together in the first session and starting at level 1. I want us to create a party that has history together and will be using connection questions to help in building those relationships. Every character will be connected to every other character. We will be using DNDBeyond for character sheets and using the 2014 ruleset. Stats will be a combination of roll 4d6 and "point buy". I have players roll their 4d6, drop the lowest, and then apply it to their abilities. Then I allow players to take points form one stat and apply it to another.

The current party

Party should be prepared for heists.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Make sure to set up an account on DNDbeyond.com and discord. When we have enough players, I will send you a discord server link.

What Kylle brings to the table

As a DM, I enjoy the story that we can create together. I will have maps prepared for combat and references, but am able to use theatre of the mind in many scenarios. I do use character voices and will attempt to use ambient music and sound. My go-to ruleset is "rules as written" but in moments where what you desire to do makes the story better, I use the rule of cool.

Homebrew rules

Here are some of my homebrew rules. - You can drink a potion as a bonus action but it is an action to feed it to someone else. - I do not do critical success or critical fails, with the exception of the following. - If you roll a critical success of a saving throw, you will take 1/4 damage. Inversely, if you roll a critical failure on a saving throw, you take 1 and 1/4 damage. - On a critical hit, we double the numbers on ALL of the dice. - All player dice rolls will be made publicly. You may roll physical dice, but you must be ready to show the dice (without touching it) at a moments notice. The exception to this rule is when making death saving throws. Those are only shared between the player and myself. - Player Inspiration. Every session everyone will be allowed to grant one other player a d4 as a reward for excellent gameplay, creative ideas, great descriptions, etc. That d4 can only be used during the session it was rewarded and can be added to any roll made (including damage)

Safety

How Kylle creates a safe table

During our first session we will talk about our Lines and Veils, which will be recorded on Discord and through a Google Doc. Lines are hard limits that are completely banned, and veils are soft limits that happen off-screen or "fade to black". At the end of every session, I will do Stars and Wishes, where we will talk about the things we liked (stars) and wishes for next session or future sessions (wishes). X, N, & O's can be digital, messaged, held up on video, or even spoken aloud. "Kylle, this is an X for me."
