About the adventure

A wickedly whimsical adventure for the world’s greatest roleplaying game. Once every eight years, the fantastic Witchlight Carnival touches down on your world, bringing joy to one settlement after the next. Its owners, Mister Witch and Mister Light, know how to put on a good show. But there’s more to this magical extravaganza than meets the eye! The carnival is a gateway to a fantastic Feywild domain unlike anything found on the Material Plane. Time has not been kind to this realm, however, and dark days lie ahead unless someone can thwart the dastardly schemes of the Hourglass Coven.

About me

First and foremost, I am a writer, reader, and storyteller by trade and at heart. I am a seasoned GM who has been playing since middle school in 1998 with D&D 3e. I have been DMing since 2000 and have been DMing D&D 5e specifically since 2018. I have a penchant for new players as I am a fair and reasonable DM. I'm patient and willing to teach and allow others to learn to play in all aspects, whether it's the dynamics of combat or growth with roleplaying. Come meet some of my current and past players on my Discord Server. Message me for the link. I have been building my homebrew world of Grakloros since 2010. I have run many campaigns in this world. I have maps created in Campaign Cartographer 3+ and a YouTube channel dedicated to the lore of my world. I have two campaign settings featuring my world: The God's Reach setting where my One-Shot games takes place, and the Bones and Barbarians setting that I GM for my crew on Twitch on Thursdays from 7-9pm EST. We have concluded season 2! Announcements for Season 3 will be coming around August 2024. I am excited to introduce B&B as I have been developing it for many years. My Discord Server is open to any and all past and present players. I host players from all across the US, Europe, and Australia. Come and join what I like to call "my extended D&D family." LGBTQ+ Friendly Neurodivergent Friendly New Player Friendly Discount Programs!!!!! - A very underused option. I offer a few: A) The Refer a Friend Program - easy stuff, you get a friend of yours to join a game and when they play their 4th paid session, you get 4 weeks free! That's 4 full weeks of unlimited games, meaning that within those 4 weeks you can try out any game I'm running (open seats permitting) for FREE! B) The Family Discount - want your spouse, significant other, mom, dad, sibling, or cousin to play with you? Great! What better way to get grandmama to learn DND than to split the cost between you. It functions like a "buy one-get one free" or "two at half-price" deal. C) NEW!!! The Try a Second Game Half Off Deal - a lot of Pro GM's offer this and I'm adding it to my list. Some stipulations, As long as you've played 4 paid games and you join a second game, that game will be half of its original price. This is a 2 month trial period deal. After those 2 months, the price goes back to it's original starting price. If you enjoy the game, I would hope you would find it worthy to continue. However, if you didn't like it, at least it didn't break the bank

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be using Roll20's 2024 Character Builder during session zero using point buy for abilities, standard starting equipment, and 1 common magic item. I have the following compendiums for your use: PHB (2014/2024), DMG(2014/2024), Heroes of Faerun, Forge of the Artificer, , Xanathar's, Tasha's, Fizban's, Bigby's, Ravenloft: THW, Van Richten's and Ezmerelda's Guide to Ravenloft, Monsters of the Multiverse, BG(FoE & DiA), RotF, and Wild Beyond the Witchlight.

The current party

New PCs will start at Level 1, with standard equipment or gold, 1 trinket, and 1 common magic item. The party currently includes: A possible Eladrin wild magic sorcerer; A possible Aarakocra bard; Session Zero party vote!!! Would you all rather do progression by milestone (as usual) or progression by XP? My thinking is, the Feywild offers a lot of opportunities beyond the plot line of the adventure, so why not offer you an incentive to go off the rails? The module sets it up in a way that at certain milestones you "gain enough experience to level up". If we went by the adventure as is, your characters would progress from level 1 to level 8. So ultimately, I'd like to take a vote during session zero. So you all have the chance to go over the pros and cons. The only real difference is keeping track of XP. If we agree on progress by XP, I will use one of the many XP calculators available and award XP at the end of each session. Also, I don't really like the idea of characters falling behind because the player has real world issues, so regardless of participation/attendance, all PCs will have equal XP through the adventure. Examples beyond battle you will receive XP for: -Tool usage: disarming traps, making disguises, brewing potions/poisons, fast crafting items -Downtime activities (10 day workweeks): Crafting magic items, training in languages/tools, performing religious duties, research, carousing with NPCs -Resolving an encounter by influence -Spamming the jump button to climb the same 5 feet of mountainside (JK, that's an Elder Scrolls reference) -100% clearing an area (No, I'm actually not joking about this). If you guys have interacted with every NPC, completed all quests, found all *treasure*, and uncovered every room you could explore in a given area, then I will absolutely give you XP for that. -filling your Feywild Information Journal (kinda have an idea where when you use the Research downtime activity and learn about important NPCs, places, creatures, and plants you get rewarded for each section). Basically it's a mini game. -More as I see fit.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a free Roll20 account and discord account, a microphone, and some understanding of the D&D 5e rules. I also encourage a pencil and notebook to take notes.

What Michael Pucci brings to the table

I have Roll20 Pro, which means we will be using dynamic lighting and you will have full use of all my available D&D compendiums. I will provide personalized character tokens, NPCs, enemies, maps, opportunities to roleplay and character development, and a community of other players via discord.

Homebrew rules

-I use advanced flanking rules (flanking, cornered, and surrounded), -I allow a second shot with a crossbow (provided you have the extra attack feature) without Crossbow Expert if you forgo your movement to reload (taking a knee). -I prefer the 2014 Spiritual Weapon over the '24 version. -I allow both versions of Inflict Wounds since I've is a save and the other is an attack. They just have to be prepared separately. -The Superhero Landing and The Tuck 'N Roll: you can use your reaction when jumping from high ground to not take falling damage. The DC equals the height from which you are jumping, ie: DC 10 for 10 feet, DC 25 for a 25 foot jump. You can use either the Superhero Landing (Athletics) or the Tuck 'N Roll maneuver (Acrobatics).
