About the adventure
Defy the Gods is a Powered by the Apocalypse system, with a queer sword and sorcery/fantasy Mesopotamia setting. You’re on the outskirts of society, choosing to fight against the World Forces and shape your own destiny… but if you burn too brightly you will join them. A single kiss or single sword strike can change everything. We start by building our world together at the start of the session, and how we fit into that world. Very rules-lite, with playbook-specific actions and actions any player can take. The Perilous Amulet is included in the Defy the Gods core rulebook.

About me
I've been exposed to TTRPGs since I was little, playing them since I was a teenager and running them for around two years. My first system as a player was one of the many editions of D&D, but I prefer to run rules-lite systems. I'm currently a convention GM for a few systems including Paranoia, Defy the Gods, and DarkSpace. Oneshots are where I shine, and I try to make sure everyone's having a good time.

Creating your character
We'll build characters together at the start of the session. I have eight playbooks available for players to choose from - The Revenant, The Sailor, The Soldier, The Sorcerer, The Vessel, The Wolfling, The Thief, and The Demigod. As we create our characters, we'll also build the world together using two of the World Forces playbooks - The Pantheon and The City. Once we finish character creation and establishing our World Forces, we'll start off with a World Scene where players step into the roles of those who currently possess the amulet, then once that scene ends we'll jump into our characters.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need a Discord account, and to join the Discord server for the game. You'll also need some sort of PDF reader, since I'll be sending out form-fillable PDF versions of the playbooks.
What Rachel brings to the table
I'll provide the Rules Reference sheets, along with all the playbooks as form-fillable PDFs. We'll be creating our characters and determining their relationships together, along with building the World Forces. I run theatre-of-the-mind games, which works very well with this system's way of handling combat and other interactions.

How Rachel creates a safe table
We'll each pull cards from the Deck of Player Safety virtually via Demiplane (https://app.demiplane.com/dops), and I'll then share the list of topics to avoid with the entire table so everyone knows what topics are a no-go before we get into the game.
